N201MKTurbo Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 I was reading the post about electronic logs and it got me thinking about the number of airports I have visited. I remember reading an article in Flying by Duane Cole where said that he had landed at over 750 different airports. I checked my logbook and I was only at 225, I was wondering what other people's numbers are. This is my first poll, I hope it works! Quote
bd32322 Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 I made it a point to hit all the airports in my state. Didnt travel outside much until I got the Mooney 2 years back ... So I am only at 56 according to my access database. Quote
wishboneash Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 I have only flown mostly in CA, OR and NV. Less than 75 airports. Quote
Hank Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 I just hit Airport #82, in 18 states. Not bad for 6 years 5 months. Mooneys are great traveling machines, and I probably have too many spreadsheets detailing everything except actual costs. 1 Quote
WardHolbrook Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 I have no idea how many, but the number would be in the hundreds divided over all 50 States and over 30 countries. Here's a map of the US that my logbook program generated. I shows the Domestic US, Canada and Mexico city pairs that I've flown to over my career. I've got the same thing for Europe, South America and the Pacific Rim. 3 Quote
DrBill Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 I stopped counting at 100 and that was prior to 2001. Bill Quote
rbridges Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 wow. I feel lame. I honestly can't be at more than 20. I need to get out more. edit--I count 27 general aviation airports. still lame. Quote

Jeff_S Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 When I first started flying I found this site: http://www.ourairports.com. It allows you to log every airport you've been to and helps keep a record of it. The site hasn't been used very much and I have no idea who maintains it, but it still works and I dutifully log every new airport I land at just for fun. It shows them to you on a map...here's mine: Quote
midlifeflyer Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 My online logbook says 147 distinct airport codes.. Quote
DaV8or Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Just over 100 for me. I just recently started using an electronic logbook and it has been useful for finding airports I haven't been to yet. It gives me a purpose for the mission, to seek out new airports, to find new asphalt, to boldly go, where I have never gone before! Quote

bd32322 Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 If you enjoy learning new software, try creating your own database. I use microsoft access (no I am not a die hard microsoft fan), you can use any other database like mySQL if you want. It does not have fancy graphics, but you can define whatever fields you like and then whatever queries you like (will need to learn SQL) For example, some of my interesting queries are: Number of hours since last oil change Number of hours since annual Number of instrument approaches in last 6 months Number of night hours in last 3 months Unique airports visited Hours by tail number or aircraft type etc etc I also keep track of expenses, fuel etc in the same database Quote
AmigOne Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 42 years flying with at least 5 new airports (probably many more) a year is more than 200 airports so it was safe to check more than 150. Quote
