waiting with bated breath...

Jerry Walters restored my whole system before he passed.  It's worked perfectly for hundreds of hours, and still works well, even with a torn boot.  I had the vacuum line to this boot capped today, to ease the load on my pump.  I'm excited to have it perfect again.

regards,

regards,

If you hit a dead end, some of the small tears can be patched with a bicycle patch.  I haven’t flown with a patched one but I have one in storage patched just in case.

I have boxes full of extra parts for these systems. If you still need a boot, I can test them and see which ones dont leak. PM me

mine works great when the boots are healthy.  I wonder why more companies didn't adopt those vac servos,  whole system can be maintained for a few hundred bucks instead of thousands per servo

Because then they can't advertise "fully digital autopilot" . . . And it would require planes to keep the vacuum pump that many remove when installing the TV screen instrument panel.

How long ago was your system renewed? My boots are 58 years old and still supple (knock on wood).

I flew one in a Navajo 45 years ago and it worked fine

I took out my Accutrac for my Dynon install and Aerocruze 100 A/P  It works fine also.

I have almost 2 complete Huff & Puff A/Ps in boxes that will be going up for sale in a few weeks  to the highest bidder :-)

Along with all the radio stuff I took out.

Jerry Walters did my system in 2015.  I had the Accutrak and altitude hold added to the original PC.

Smart move

Some day, we will figure out how to do a group buy of 80% complete boots that look just like Brittain, leaving room for the owner to do another 20%(cutting a hole for example). This way it will be legal "owner produced part."   I'm sure we could order them at $20 a boot if the order will be big enough.

That was done about a year ago but I think they ended up costing around $125ish each.  Minimun buy was around $2K.  There's a thread on MS somewhere.

I didn't know it was in such high demand  :-)

Actually I'm fighting a nose gear donut install problem right now.

Had to order in bar stock to make a drift to get the donut bottom hole to line up with the side bars.

Common issue but it needs 9/16 stock and 9/16 bolts to make it our of are not easy to find and expensive'

Need to grind a ball end on so it will slide through and line up the other side to drift the main bolt in.

I'll probably do a start to finish article so others will know what to expect when they do it.

The main gear donuts are easy- no special tools needed.

I'm pretty sure that we could have get enough folks to commit to get to $2K min. Or order it from overseas and make it even cheaper.

+1 will purchase 2-3 servos! (I'm trying to add altitude hold to my bird). I am assuming there are two elevator servos. If two, I will purchase 3. If only 1, I will purchase 2, so that I have a spare.

If the other servos (with different part numbers) can be included in the order, I wouldn't mind buying spares for the entire plane to get to the number we need...
