bixmooney Posted October 29 Report Posted October 29 I ordered the knots2u door seal, glue stripper and adhesive from their website. Any pearls on doing this ? Is a pretty straightforward and effective job to do ?
1967 427 Posted October 30 Report Posted October 30 Rather straight forward. Lay the seal out in the sun for 1/2 hour before installation, and read instructions on your sealant. I suspect apply to both surfaces and allow to get tacky for a prescribed time, tape in place. Like you said straight forward.

Lots of info on Door Seals on Mooneyspace: https://mooneyspace.com/search/?q="door seal"&quick=1&updated_after=any&sortby=relevancy Even a couple posts on Knots2U door seals: https://mooneyspace.com/search/?q="knots2u door seal"&quick=1&updated_after=any&sortby=relevancy&search_and_or=or
JimC67 Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago I used it on my B. The biggest thing is stripping all the old sealant off first so you have a clean surface. After that, work in smaller sections. Made a huge difference in my airplane
bixmooney Posted 4 hours ago Author Report Posted 4 hours ago Mine seemed to go well, but I made some mistakes and will probably redo it I used the knot2u and stripped it down well glued it and shut the door which was really hard to shut I left it with hanger heat at 65 overnight. it was still hard to shut from the outside and couldn’t shut from the inside this is where we made my mistake. I should have given it another day or two to compress but couldn’t help myself and started trimming. the door shuts great now but I have wind under the door. I trimmed there and that obviously was not the tight spot if I do it again, I will temp blue tape it, get several strips of paper to check fit and adjust before gluing. also, I will leave it to compress for 2 days
