I just got a new iPhone 16.  The Foreflight image on the new phone looks cartoonish.  Is there a way to have it display like the iPad?

Try more, settings and use something other than system - FYI I don't have a 16 to verify…

Just to confirm since the phone is new...  Have all the DBs completed downloading on the phone?  You may be looking at Online maps and not from the DB on the phone.

Can you elaborate on what this means? The iPhone image you posted has the Aeronautical map setting selected, the iPad image does not. If it's the airport and airspace symbols/lines you're talking about, deselect the Aeronautical map on the iPhone and they will be removed.

Cheers,
Rick

Yep. Too many things different from what is selected to display (including the aeronautical layer) to the zoom level. I'm not even sure what the complaint is.

My complaint is the pink outlines on the map.  However, Rick correctly said it’s the aeronautical map.  I don’t use that and don’t know how it got selected.  Anyway, it’s solved.

thanks to everyone for your comments.

Turn off aeronautical map overlay top button, it provides useful info although it clutters the map, I’ll toggle it on when near Class B or other areas I may need more detail especially when VFR.

Some do the exact opposite. Use the aeronautical layer all the time and turn off the Sectional or Enroute chart. I'm kind of in the middle. I still prefer the familiar  Sectional for VFR. but prefer the naked Aeronautical for IFR.  In both cases I try to minimize clutter by customizing what is displayed on the Aeronautical.

Thanks for bringing this up.   I normally fly with the Sectional, but the Aeronautical highlights airspace, which is a good thing to me.

I've been experimenting with keeping the low IFR charts up more often in FF for that reason. I still find some kind of topo more intuitive, will try to have at least one device showing some terrain reference.

Good topic.

I keep the Sectional up. I fly a few times every year to the west and find it helpful to have a relatively clean display with ground elevations and MOAs so I can plan my altitude adjustments as I progress. I also like to be able to pull up the VORs that are forward of my position and plug in the frequencies just in case of a GPS outage, and to keep that skill up. The Aeronautical and IFR displays are just too cluttered and lacking information I need. On rare occasions, if I have to fly IMC for an extended period I will use the IFR map. If I fly an approach I will put the plate on the sectional and that way I can see ADSB traffic during the approach.

I’m in the camp using Aeronautical map only. I find it less cluttered and I can still add what I need like intersections airways. Occasionally I will turn on a VFR or IFR map when needed but typically for just a few minutes then go back to the aeronautical map.

It's interesting to see how everyone chooses their layers and how different some of us are.  I find (not completely intentionally) that I usually have the aeronautical map up as well as either the VFR or IFR low depending on what I'm looking for.  Flying in the mountains on a joy ride - VFR.  On a XC flying IFR - IFR low.

But I don't think I've ever gone with just the aeronautical map except for transiently or if I'm trying to quickly declutter.  Of course most of my in flight use of iPad is more "looking around" as I do most of my navigation/traffic/etc with the panel.

It's nice to have all those options with the ability to switch them with a few taps.
