Echo Posted Sunday at 06:15 PM Report Posted Sunday at 06:15 PM (edited) I have noticed an increase in shipping problems in last six months. Amazon is killin' it on communication and hitting or beating delivery times. Fed Ex, UPS, USPS? Not so much. Examples: 1. Item shipped from Cedar Rapids to Tennessee. Within ten miles of location and item was shipped four hours east with several days delay. 2. Item shipped from Louisiana to Iowa. Item went from St Louis to Des Moines (two hours west of delivery) and then was sent to Denver with several days delay to deliver. 3. Item boxed and shipped from Arizona to Iowa. Notice of delay. Two of three items arrived in a different box than originally shipped. Heaviest item (generator) missing fom different box after several days delay. What is going on within shipping logistics operations? Are others seeing a significant increase in delays and damaged or lost shipments in last six months? I am always concerned about not just delays, but will I receive my expensive aviation shipments regardless of carrier. Edited Sunday at 06:16 PM by Echo Quote
Pinecone Posted Sunday at 06:54 PM Report Posted Sunday at 06:54 PM I looked up the numbers for a similar thread on another forum. FedEx and UPS pick up and deliver over 6 million packages, PER DAY, EACH. So sometimes things happen. But in general, I get my packages on time in good shape Quote
Utah20Gflyer Posted Sunday at 07:17 PM Report Posted Sunday at 07:17 PM I’ve actually noticed the opposite where Amazon is missing delivery dates. It’s never been by a lot but has been noticeable. Quote
47U Posted Sunday at 08:13 PM Report Posted Sunday at 08:13 PM 1 hour ago, Echo said: Fed Ex, UPS, USPS? Not so much. USPS is having issues. Last fall, Mom sent me her Apple watch for an OS update. Arrived in five days. I sent it back Priority Mail, it took 10 days and went through Ohio before coming back to Iowa. Then, Mom mailed her annual box of Christmas cookies (and lefse) from Northern Iowa (Rudd, 50471, 17 DME east of MCW), headed for Roseville, CA (Sacramento), 95747. 16 Dec, in USPS possession, Rudd, IA 17 Dec, arrived Cedar Rapids, IA 2 Jan, arrived Anchorage, AK 4 Jan, departed Anchorage, AK 15 Jan, arrived Seattle, WA 17 Jan, arrived Sacramento, CA 18 Jan, arrived Rancho Cordova, CA (east side of Sacramento), then back to Sacramento the same day 19 Jan, arrived Des Moines, IA (WTH? NOW it gets on an airplane?) 22 Jan, arrived Mason City, IA 24 Jan, arrived Cedar Rapids, IA, then Waterloo, IA, the same day. 26 Jan, arrived Des Moines, IA 2 Feb, arrived Sacramento, CA, then Roseville, CA, the same day 3 Feb, delivered to the addressee, Roseville, CA The address was written in cursive, but wasn’t by ANY means illegible. The zip code was completely legible. The box was intact, no damage, but the cookies were dust and the lefse a 5 grade science experiment growing mold. There was ‘Loop Mail’ barcode sticker on the box… no kidding. I have USPS tracking screen shots of the entire debacle. Mom did not get her money’s worth for $20.95 spent on Priority Mail. My wifey was happy the lefse was moldy (potatoes, butter, and sugar… what’s not good about that?), but very bummed about Mom’s Christmas cookies turning to dust. They are the best. Quote
Pinecone Posted Monday at 04:06 PM Report Posted Monday at 04:06 PM Agree that USPS is nuts. Placed an order on Feb 9 for Priority, supposed to deliver on Feb 11. Shipped Feb 10. Feb 12, no package. Shipper site says shipped Priority Mail. I call, they tell me scheduled for Fri Feb 14 delivery. Package arrives on Wednesday Feb 19. Another package is listed as in USPS hands on Feb 3, still not delivered. Quote
