Max Clark Posted June 29, 2024 Report Posted June 29, 2024 This morning during pre-flight the speed brakes would not deploy. I cycled the breaker in the plane with no change. Pressing the button on the yoke did not result with anything happening (like the speed brakes even twitching). I've been looking for things I can do to test & troubleshoot myself (i.e. I'm hoping it's something simple like a faulty switch) but haven't found much. The brakes were serviced ~200 hours ago. Anything I should be doing before turning this into a bigger project? Quote
Fritz1 Posted June 29, 2024 Report Posted June 29, 2024 Reset circuit breaker, if that does not get them moving get svc manual with wiring diagram, look for components that affect both speed brakes like yoke switch Quote
ArtVandelay Posted June 29, 2024 Report Posted June 29, 2024 If both aren’t working, I would check the switch first. Quote
Max Clark Posted June 29, 2024 Author Report Posted June 29, 2024 I’m assuming/hoping/praying it’s the switch. How to I get a copy of the service manual? I’d probably go ahead and order a replacement switch just to have. Quote
PT20J Posted June 30, 2024 Report Posted June 30, 2024 That looks like a 100 series from the picture. These are pretty simple. Since the brakes have been recently serviced, it's probably the switch or the relay. 100 SERIES SCHEMATIC WIRING.pdf 1 Quote

If it’s the relay, mine is installed in the footwell, looks like this:It’s installed in a socket, try pulling it, using electronic cleaner and see if that makes a difference. Notice you have easy access to check connections with a multimeter. Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted June 30, 2024 Report Posted June 30, 2024 My speed brakes don’t have a relay, they have a control box in the tail. They don’t have micro switches, they have inductive proximity sensors. If you have that series, I would check the connections to the control box, and the switch. 1 Quote

Max Clark Posted June 30, 2024 Author Report Posted June 30, 2024 I'm going to head out to the field tomorrow and see what I can figure out (starting with what exactly I have). Quote
Max Clark Posted July 1, 2024 Author Report Posted July 1, 2024 Anyone have a wiring diagram for a precise flight 2000 handy??? Quote
