Brandt Posted January 19, 2024 Report Posted January 19, 2024 Not a Mooney, but applies to Mooneys. Found it interesting. 3
jetdriven Posted January 19, 2024 Report Posted January 19, 2024 Good info. Positive rate, gear up. 1
GeeBee Posted January 19, 2024 Report Posted January 19, 2024 The Mooney gear is too fast to leave down. If you have a TO engine failure, put the gear down. It will be there by the time you touch down. Also hard on the gear to retract at higher speeds. 4

Even at my current 5000' home field, by the time I'm at 50', there's precious little usable runway left. At my previous 3000' fields, there was none.
jetdriven Posted January 20, 2024 Report Posted January 20, 2024 Once you come off the ground, even on a 4000’ runway, there really isn’t enough to stop. Besides. You can stop on the belly skins. 2
