2003 Mooney Ovation. Something occurred during my last annual such that the HOBBS meter has stopped advancing. I brought this to the attention of the A&P who has been unable to isolate the problem. He isn't sure what runs the hobs, however he confirmed that the HOBBS and the oil pressure sensor are functioning. He thinks there are multiple options for what drives the HOBBS , but he doesn't know what specifically runs my hobbs which is making the task of fixing the problem more challenging. Has anyone experienced such a problem. Thanks for any insight.

Technically it’s called the Mooney hour meter and it runs off the Mooney Tachometer/RPM gauge.
It’s wiring is shown in your electrical schematic in the service manual. It’s usually the RPM gauge that dies first but frankly the cheaper fix is usually to replace the RPM gauge with a modern digital tach like the EI R1 for a few hundred $. If you go that route, EI will set the hours to whatever you tell them.
