Mark89114 Posted March 26, 2023 Report Posted March 26, 2023 Pulling access panels for my annual inspection for the mechanic and found this. The right hand pushrod appears to have been rubbing on the access panel. The left hand side is much less scratching. I have never noticed anything in flight and don't recall working ailerons on ground and hearing any noises. Mechanic has been notified but he isn't a mooney expert so any useful advice is appreciated. Mark Quote
carusoam Posted March 26, 2023 Report Posted March 26, 2023 Get a good look inside… Something isn’t sitting right. A long screw, a panel with a doubler, or something small…. Let’s invite @M20Doc to stop by (control rod rubbing on an inspection panel) Best regards, -a- Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted March 26, 2023 Report Posted March 26, 2023 I have a feeling that the scratches are caused by removing the panel for inspection, not rubbing on it during flight. 2 Quote
EricJ Posted March 26, 2023 Report Posted March 26, 2023 +1 that I'd bet those scratches are from removing/replacing the inspection plates. 1 Quote
carusoam Posted March 26, 2023 Report Posted March 26, 2023 There isn’t much space above the hole… So with the inspection panel tucked up inside like in the picture… You may have the answer…. There are a lot of scratches now… but, it would be paintless and thinner if it was getting scratched continuously … PP guessing only… not a mechanic… Best regards, -a- Quote
Guest Posted March 26, 2023 Report Posted March 26, 2023 It’s not uncommon to see light scuff marks from removing and installing the inspection covers, nothing to really get too worried about. On some models you need to watch for screws rubbing and damaging the aileron push rods. Quote
