I picked up a local from there today and on our flight I was chatting to him about cars, and got to Porsches. He then told me about that Porsche Mooney sitting at the airport (KTPF). Sure enough, it's still there. I'm equal parts an aviation guy as I am a Porsche guy, and I need another one of each like I need a hole in my head. jetdriven Posted December 28, 2022 Report Posted December 28, 2022 Nowhere again, the same argument for the Porsche PFM is the same argument from 12 years ago, it doesn’t work. Mostly because of the life limited valve springs that are not available anywhere and they weren’t available 12 years ago either. The Argument is the same as for buying a Learjet 25, a very pretty and fast cool looking lawn ornament. 1 Quote

They are still flying a couple of these in Germany, and I sent an email to Uwe asking about that. I'm less concerned about the valve springs and more the gearbox's rubber vibration damper. I called the airport authority, and they still do not have the right to legal possession anyway. I left a voice mail with the specific person there to talk to about it. Quote

The exhaust valves, the springs, the seats are what last the least time on an engine, so Porsche chose to stop supplying these parts so that the adventure stops as soon as possible (in 1987 they also made takeover offers for the entire aircraft). But valves and springs for Porsche still exist, except that not at all FAA-PMA. In competition, the valves are better... Quote
