Where do you mount your fire extinguisher?

Mine used to be strapped to the floor under the back seat (78J). In flight to reach it I would have to slide my seat all the way back and take my hands off the controls.

I didn’t like that so I moved it. It now lives under the instrument panel on the co-pilot side. It’s attached to the frame behind the pedestal. I can grab it with one hand while flying easily, and no one can step on it there.

Thank you Clarence, that's very kind of you. I've been aware of the issue, but have been very lucky, my unit has held its weight within 1 oz for many years. Just re-weighed it at annual a couple of weeks ago. I've been thinking I should swap it out because I installed it in 2011 but its still holding its weight so I haven't.

No, there is factory option for installing one side ways on that rear bulk head, but then it does seem like it could interfere with rear seat pax legs and the rear seat back adjustment handle access, so I went the route I did.

Thanks.  Your extinguisher is shorter than mine.

I looked yesterday, and mine is in a recess in the area under the left rear seat.  So not really in the way of the passenger's feet.

I will take a picture, if I remember.

Mine is "Mooney" sized. I don't really ever expect to use it in flight, just on the ground after a crash to evacuate with fire from breached tanks. Unless delayed exiting the aircraft, don't expect to need very much.

These extinguishers will not do much for an after crash fire.

They are intended for a small cabin fire in flight.

If you have a dry chem type, before you discharge it, take a DEEP breath and hold it.  You will FILL the cabin with the powder.  Hold your breath for as long as you can, then open up the vents and the pilot window.

This is where mine is on my C. It is very much out of the way and easily accessible. These smaller extinguishers are pricy though.

Yep, that’s where mine is in a 1994 J. Out of the way, but difficult to access.

Used two Adela and mounted it on my seat adjustment bar. Before that I had it sitting in a seat organizer.

I don't recall -- the receipt from the last time I had it recharged only says 2.5 lb Halon.

I mounted mine on the wall, about calf level, on the right side of the right seat legwell. It’s a minimal nuisance to the copilot and extremely accessible. 

I’ve seen several in the backseat which seems difficult to access, especially in a time of emergency.

Mine was, but it started looking more and more like a projectile.  I'm looking for someplace to mount it so that under unfortunate circumstances it won't rattle around in the cabin and beat the crap out of the occupants.
