kortopates Posted August 3, 2022 Report Posted August 3, 2022 Garmin says no other cooling fan is required. My original Mooney fan was removed and i’ve never had an issue with stack of GTN’s (750 + 650)Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote

carusoam Posted August 14, 2022 Report Posted August 14, 2022 Note for Philip… Cooling fans on GTNs have a quirky history… a few have failed around here… They are easy to replace… More of a fan quality issue than a temperature or install issue… PP thoughts only, stuff I have read around here… Best regards, -a- 1 Quote
cbarry Posted August 14, 2022 Report Posted August 14, 2022 I think it may have something to do with the amount of heat that ADF is throwing off trying to keep up with its modern panel mates! Great looking panel! 1 Quote

PT20J Posted August 31, 2022 Report Posted August 31, 2022 Thirty years ago I was an engineering manager at a company that made telecom equipment. A large telephone company central office would have row after row of 11.5' high racks of equipment. Bell specs forbade cooling fans because fans had the lowest MTBF of any installed equipment. You had to design assuming your equipment might be at the top of the stack with everything below heating your box up. Skip Quote
