llebhsoj Posted June 5, 2022 Report Posted June 5, 2022 I found oil on my floor and after the initial panic, and pointing towards the nearest airport, I figured out it was fluid from pumping my flaps. It seems like the first three or four pumps do nothing, then the pumps start moving the flaps. Even after losing a significant amount, the reservoir is filled to the brim. The fluid is overflowing, not leaking. Someone knows exactly what this is. Please help. Thank you! Quote
carusoam Posted June 5, 2022 Report Posted June 5, 2022 Hey Josh! That someone has a name… Find Ross…. Ross has detailed how to maintain the flap system the best… When oil leaks out of the flaps… It is a shared reservoir with the brakes… As the level goes lower… the number of useless pumps increases…. Then you run out of brake fluid… So don’t wait… The red fluid can’t possibly keep the same level if it is pouring out on the floor…. Quick check of the hose age is in order… If your logs indicate that flap system hoses are original… expect that they are old, hard, crunchy, and started to leak…. Or…. You have discovered the true source of where hydraulic fluid is manufactured…. Keep in mind… somebody at Mooney has proven that oil matter is neither created or destroyed within the flap system…. PP thoughts only… not a physicist… Best regards, -a- Quote
llebhsoj Posted June 6, 2022 Author Report Posted June 6, 2022 I don’t figure that it’s magically producing fluid, but maybe it is replacing it with air. It is overflowing. How do I find this Ross fella? Quote
carusoam Posted June 6, 2022 Report Posted June 6, 2022 It would be challenging to check the fluid level and not have it change… when fluid IS leaving the system…. Clearly, fluid is being replaced with air… and the extra air is showing up in the reservoir… For Finding Ross… I usually do this… https://mooneyspace.com/search/?q=Ross&quick=1 reveals @Shadrach… -a- 1 Quote

Ragsf15e Posted June 6, 2022 Report Posted June 6, 2022 Ross will have lots of details, but it’s not uncommon for the parking brake solenoid to leak which will also put hydraulic fluid on your left foot. That was a pain but some new o rings fixed it. 1 1 Quote
