Txbyker Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 I have some oil blowing back through the filler tube. I have to tighten it with pliers after checking pre-flight to seal it the best I can. The gasket (which is more of an o-ring if you ask me) is pretty old. I can't seem to find one anywhere. Does anyone know where I can get the "oil gage gasket" as Lycoming would call it? 1987 M20J. Quote
kerry Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 I have a plane with a o320 that had the same problem. Oil would make a mess on the firewall. New o-ring wouldn't seem to help. I replaced o-ring with a crush washer with some high temp RVT. Good so far. Quote
MooneyMitch Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 I used the "Right Stuff" gasket material and it's working great! Quote
pjsny78 Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 I just Got a silicone gasket that is good forever. No leaks since. It's a great product and not very expensive. Quote
jetdriven Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 The gasket under the tube is a 72059. The o-ring on the top of the disptick is 74068 for all IO-360 except the A1D6D. source: Lycoming direct drive IO-360 parts catalog Quote
