Skipping to the end, I'm looking for descriptions of how you incorporate your autopilot into the missed approach. Posts should indicate aircraft model and panel. For example, for a late 1990's Ovation it might be, 1997 Ovation. Steam gauges, Garmin GNS 530, KAP 150 with KAS 297 pre-select. Here's the long-winded explanation.

We've had several discussions on the subject with specific configurations in mind. If one looks around, while there are videos and manuals and sites galore which talk about setting up our avionics for the approach, there is next to nothing on incorporating our autopilots on the missed. Even something as excruciatingly detailed as the Cirrus Flight Operations Manual doesn't recommend a specific procedure. The closest I've found is Gary Reeve's discussion about 33 minutes into his YouTube video, Using Autopilots to Fly Instrument Approaches (the link is to the start of the segment).

The reason for the lack is a bit obvious. There are so many setups with so many differences. TOGAs which disconnect the AP. TOGAs which don't. New digital APs which follow the GPS path and analog ones which don't. PFDs which do GPSS and steam gauges that don't. It's almost impossible to come up with something universal other than the manual power up, climb, and clean up sequence followed by ?????. I'm curious because I teach in so many different setups and I can't help but think that there is some (very) basic template that can be used, filling in blanks depending on both avionics suite and user preference (given the choice, some may choose to disconnect the AP for the initial part of the missed; others to keep it connected).  I'm going to start experimenting with the aircraft I fly. I've had interesting results on X-Plane and training devices but although the flight models are pretty good there is a noticeable lack of avionics fidelity, so those can't really be trusted.

I don't know what the results will be; not even whether I'm off on a wild goose chase.

Most of the time I just press the TOGO button and let it fly the MA. the GPS will load it and the AP will fly it.

99 Screaming Eagle, G3X, GNX375, GFC500. The GFC500 flies it perfectly every time.
