Bob R Posted January 10, 2022 Report Posted January 10, 2022 My 12 volt electric motor sprocket needs replacing. It’s 6 tooth. Does anyone know the part number or have a line on where I can procure one? Thanks. Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted January 10, 2022 Report Posted January 10, 2022 What is wrong with it? It is hard to imagine it wore out. Quote

David Lloyd Posted January 10, 2022 Report Posted January 10, 2022 That does not look worn. Small sprockets need a snug chain. Better check the instructions on how snug. Quote

MB65E Posted January 10, 2022 Report Posted January 10, 2022 It’s an aero trim system. My airplane has it. AeroTrim used to sell the STC for the trim. They are no longer selling the STC but you might get lucky with parts or a new trim wheel. The cover for mine has always been a mangely mess. -Matt Quote

N201MKTurbo Posted January 11, 2022 Report Posted January 11, 2022 Oh, it’s a Norm thing. I think all his STCs died with him. Quote
Yetti Posted January 11, 2022 Report Posted January 11, 2022 No experience with them but I am think a call to Autopilots Central in Tulsa may be a good step. Quote
carusoam Posted January 11, 2022 Report Posted January 11, 2022 Well… You can probably look up your Norm’s STC details… Or contact the pre-flown parts guy to see what he knows and has…. If you know it’s worn, and out of adjustment…. See what @Alan Fox has for parts… Best regards, -a- Quote

The issue is with the ring the socket mates to. I’m gonna see about having one made by Waterjet. If that is cost prohibitive, it appears I could turn it over and use the other side for a while. Quote

There are a few threads on making and documenting user supplied parts around here… That will help with proper log entry… PP thoughts only, not a mechanic… Best regards, -a- Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted January 11, 2022 Report Posted January 11, 2022 The STCs seem to be alive and well. I would contact them. http://www.aerotriminc.com/id2.html 1 Quote
carusoam Posted January 11, 2022 Report Posted January 11, 2022 Norm may not be with any longer… but his company lives on… http://www.aerotriminc.com/id1.html (This is a paragraph about Norm the Mooney Miser) -a- Quote

carusoam Posted January 11, 2022 Report Posted January 11, 2022 It could be zombie…. Or it could be the ultra low cost that the Mooney Miser is known for…. -a- Quote

JoeM Posted January 11, 2022 Report Posted January 11, 2022 I bought electric trim parts from them last year. Good people who bought the company and all its inventory but don't support this STC any more. I would be interested in user made parts for this system as mine is currently inop. Quote

I talked to them today. They do have a few sets of rings and a couple of motors. They were gracious enough to give me the part number for the sprocket and I’ve talked to them. It looks like I’ll be able to get one made but I’ll have to buy five but the total is only about 60 bucks. I’m having the ring water jetted as well as an extra sprocket for $160. Got a love pilot produce parts. If there’s anybody out there that has the arrow trim STC it needs a ring, let me know and I’m sure I can get them to make extra rings and it will cut the cost down for everyone. 2 Quote

Please let me know what the cost is for the sprocket and ring so I can send you the money. Quote
Aerodon Posted January 11, 2022 Report Posted January 11, 2022 This is the sort of thing that would push me over the edge and buy a GFC500 with electric trim... Aerodon Quote

Aerodon Some people have more time than money, and enjoy the challenge of keeping old stuff working. After resealing the boots and changing hoses, my Brittain with Alt hold and Pitch control now works fine for flying VFR 4 Quote

The ring goes on inside on the inside of the trim wheel between that facing and the chain it’s cured by three screws on each of the half plates. If you need the Sprocket, let me know because I’m gonna have to buy five minimum Quote
