FlyingScot Posted February 9, 2023 Report Posted February 9, 2023 The PPP is an incredible program. Period. I try to do it every year. There is always something to learn, no matter how seasoned and current you are. The instructors have been fantastic, and what's not to love about talking flying and Mooney for a weekend! > flying with an instructor who has significant Mooney experience is priceless Amen to that. 2 Quote

The premium went down a little over $2,000 To be fair, I finished my instrument rating, got almost 200hrs of complex time this year, and took the MAPA training. I cannot imagine why anyone's insurance would go up after getting additional training....but I am not an insurance guy. Expand I recently talked to my insurance guy and asked about doing additional courses like this one and he said the only thing that would help my insurance go down is just more time in the plane. The training and after my IFR he even said that getting my Commercial wouldn't do anything for my premiums. Quote

Expand Some insurers will insist on type-specific recurrent training as a condition of insuring you, but there is noting like a history of no damage claims with a lot of hours in the airplane (while still young ;)) to help premiums. 2 Quote
