awesb Posted December 4, 2021 Report Posted December 4, 2021 Hi, Where is a good place with a fair price for avionics installation? I live in California. The quotes I've gotten vary wildly, so I am wondering what is a fair price. I am also having a hard time finding a shop to install it now. Some say there is a 6 month waiting list. Some say they can install in February, and it will take 4 weeks. Quote
McMooney Posted December 4, 2021 Report Posted December 4, 2021 talk to yash@Lasar. planning on having him work on my plane once i can distract my CFO. Quote

PT20J Posted December 4, 2021 Report Posted December 4, 2021 I might try @Baker Avionics in Grants Pass OR. No sales tax. Skip 1 Quote
Steve Dawson Posted December 4, 2021 Report Posted December 4, 2021 Check too to see if you can get the avionics you want. There's a large backorder because of microchips and shipping delays. Quote
flyboy0681 Posted December 4, 2021 Report Posted December 4, 2021 Can you please be a little more vague? Quote
Jetrn Posted December 4, 2021 Report Posted December 4, 2021 Don Kaye, I believe uses JR Electronics out of livermore. I was in need of a ki256 attitude that sometimes acts up. I was looking to purchase a rebuild or purchase a GI-275/adhrs+ap. I called on monday and left a message, have not heard from them. Called pacific coast earliest install late february. Called executive autopilots in sacramento, luckily they had a Gi-275 on the shelf. Plane will be in the shop next week or so and a 12 minute flight from my home base. They had half dozen or more large jobs going on and still take small jobs in. My next call would have been to baker avionics in oregon. So the answer depends on the size of the job and availability of equipment. Quote
bmcconnaha Posted December 4, 2021 Report Posted December 4, 2021 I'm on @Baker Avionics schedule for late January for a g3X install. His shop is in southern Oregon, might not be too bad for you to get to. No sales tax in OR as well. Quote
JoeM Posted December 4, 2021 Report Posted December 4, 2021 I like Aero performance specialties in Chino. Steve has been great to work with. Keeps time available for small jobs in between his large installs. Works on Mooney‘s frequently. Quoted me about two months out for major panel work. Perhaps not the cheapest, but definitely competent and reasonable prices. https://aero-performance.com/ i’ve also used Leading Edge Avionics at SNA. Haven’t spoken to them recently but they have an excellent reputation. Quote
Lance Link Posted December 6, 2021 Report Posted December 6, 2021 You might also query Pacific Coast in Oregon (typically pricy but our local club just got a very competitive quote) and Chief, also in Grant's pass, did a great job on a friends 182 for a terrific price. 1 Quote

I've used Pacific Coast Avionics several times and have been extremely happy with the service and the pricing while not cheap is reasonable for a shop of its quality. Scheduling is always the issue though as installations can run out several months. I'm scheduled for my next trip up there in April, I know they have availability sooner but I like to plan ahead. You can contact Randy for a quote and scheduling (randy@pca.aero). 1 Quote
