jlunseth Posted December 25, 2011 Report Posted December 25, 2011 My K has owned me for two and a half years. Quote
rainman Posted December 25, 2011 Report Posted December 25, 2011 I got my pilots license in 1983 but stopped flying soon after when I got married, and my military career put things on hold. I started flying again last year and bought my 1979 M20 K six months ago as I was preparing to retire from the military. I got some panel work done on it and put in a new interior (sweet). I'm working on my instrument rating and plan to keep this plane as long as I can fly! Ray Quote
AmigOne Posted December 25, 2011 Report Posted December 25, 2011 I have owned my 1968 Ranger for one year now. This is my third Mooney, the first one was a 1977 201 which I owned for about 4 years and the second a 1962 Ranger which I owned for about 3 years. I like to change airplanes, have owned 14 over 40 years, including a couple of twins, a taildragger and an acrobatic experimental biplane. Four of those, including the first 2 Mooneys, were owned in partnerships that worked very well. Never owned a Beechcraft. I came back to the Mooney because I will probably retire from flying with this plane, I know it fairly well and is most economical for its performance. Cheers, Jose Quote
Joe Zuffoletto Posted December 26, 2011 Report Posted December 26, 2011 I owned a 1998 M20K Encore from May, 2000 until September, 2011, when I traded it for the 2009 Acclaim Type S I now own. Quote
Wistarmo Posted December 26, 2011 Report Posted December 26, 2011 Owned '93 MSE N220TM, bought new in 1993, from 1993-1997. Sold it 1997 but bought it back in 2009 and currently own it. So six years, just not all together. Quote
Lionudakis Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 1 1/2 yrs now, took 5 months to get my 20hrs from my cfi partner (our schedules are complete opposite). Me being a mechanic, its spent more time under the wrench than in the air. Moved up from a 66 C150, spent 2 yrs trying to sell it, was waving goodbye to it and my hangar neighbor (my birds former owner) who'd been battling his medical cert and threatening to go lightsport, pulled in, I jokingly said, 'you ready to sell her, were in the market ! ?' To my surprise he was comign out to take pics to put it for sale. I just happen to have a printed sales agreement from aopa, we agreed on a price, signed faxed to Bank of Locust Groves' Mooney loan guy, all in the same day. I was familiar with the planes condition, equipment, having been owned by a older guy who likes to tinker on it 2 doors down, I'd seen most of it opened up at some point, but still opened up and looked in all the problem areas, and came up with a list of upgrades/to-do's. No regrets so far, he's still walking down parts he's acumulated since he bought it in 81, I'm owner #3. My wife and kids love flying now, she'll be sexy when i get the paint job done ! Quote
fantom Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 17 wonderful years with the same plane, and 21 fine years with the same woman :-))) Quote
The-sky-captain Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 A glorious 3 years and 2 months. Quote
Dale Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 I owned my first Mooney, an M20E, N5817Q for about 20 years. In March of this year, I bought an M20K 262, N5810Q, and I have had the plane for 10 months. Quote
231Pilot Posted December 28, 2011 Report Posted December 28, 2011 2 months on the current one (1985 231), 4 years 11 months on the previous one (1982 201), and 6 years 2 months on the first one (1967 M20C), for a total ownership of 11 years 3 months (September 2000 - now). Quote
Mooneymite Posted December 30, 2011 Report Posted December 30, 2011 13 years! Can it be? I bought the plane for my son to build time in; it was the first plane I ever bought. I fully intended to get rid of it when he was done with it. However, after a year, I fell in love with it and even though my son has left home, the Mooney is still here! Had I known how inexpensive a Mooney could be, I would have owned a plane much sooner. It has a modern GPS in it and a reman engine, but otherwise, it is essentially stock. Quote
