The-sky-captain Posted August 15, 2009 Report Posted August 15, 2009 How does the MAPA email list work? Do you get an email every time someone posts or is it in a forum format? Quote
lahso Posted August 15, 2009 Report Posted August 15, 2009 Someone will send a message to the list e-mail address, then folks usually reply back to the list. You can get quite a few messages in your Inbox. There is no forum. Hope that helps. Quote
mooneyflyer Posted August 15, 2009 Report Posted August 15, 2009 Not totally accurate. YOu can get an email "each time" someone posts, or you can "batch" them and get a bunch of posts in one email. Enjoy. You can set this up easily when you register, or go back to settings and specify which technique. Fly fast, fly safe. Phil Quote
The-sky-captain Posted August 15, 2009 Author Report Posted August 15, 2009 Thanks for the feedback guys. Quote
fantom Posted August 15, 2009 Report Posted August 15, 2009 Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could convince MAPA and the Mooney list serve to consolidate here. I know the suggestion has been made by several of us, but no joy....yet. Quote

fantom Posted August 15, 2009 Report Posted August 15, 2009 From what I've been told there are just over 100 on the MAPA list with a handful active, and almost 1,000 signed up to the Mooney list serve and many more active. I've been on the MAPA list since the beginning and the Mooney list serve for about ten years. It used to be called Mooney Junction, IIRC. Mooney Space is, of course, a much improved format. Quote
wmrunyon Posted August 15, 2009 Report Posted August 15, 2009 I am in total agreement with a forum for MAPA and wish Trey would purchase this forum from Craig for his wonderful effort, incredible expertise and support of this site. He has done a great job and deserves compensation for the idea and implementation. I am a member of the MMOPA (Malibu) group also. They have a fantastic group and their website is broad and deep to include a very nice forum such as this. I feel one strong advantage with such a forum is the historical conversations that are kept on file. For example, if in two years from now a new guy comes on board and wants to know about Bladders vs. a reseal, he can learn everything he needs to know, plus some in just a few minutes, vs. 2-3 days of exchanges. And think of all the conversations that have taken place over the years on the MAPA email list that we do not have access to. A lot of institutional knowledge is lost, or at a minimum has to be recreated by someone else asking a similar question a year later when the problem creeps up. And my last comment is that i just hate opening up my email at home, after a long day’s work, and having 50 emails from MAPA. It is less intrusive and more logical to access a website to pick and choose what topics you are interested in, such as this Forum! Or have the option of having every email exchange forwarded to your inbox from the forum if you are so inclined. Bill Quote
N207LS Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 I agree with the comments regarding the MAPA list. It would be great to have everyone on here instead. Like most of us, I get 5-10 emails each day from MAPA List. Fortunately, they come to my cell phone and I read. I can't imaging having to come home to look at email and try to read 10 long winded emails from MAPA list. This forum is really what MAPA should consider buying. I will not be at the MAPA Convention, but the discussion should be had there about moving over to this board. Aaron Quote
