flyer338 Posted January 26, 2021 Report Posted January 26, 2021 I am buying consumable items and hardware to have on hand against sudden need. The list includes a set of 66-10500 brake pads. I notice that Rapco pads are just over half the cost of Cleveland pads. Does the cost difference reflect a quality/longevity difference? What says the group?
StevenL757 Posted January 26, 2021 Report Posted January 26, 2021 I've used both, and found that (at least on the Ovation platform), the Cleveland linings hold up much better. I typically buy qty. 2 of 66-105 (four-pack) from Spruce, which saves a little bit.

I bought my C in June 2007, with not-new brakes. No idea on their age. Replaced them during annual in Spring 2018. Didn't see the need to dig through the logs, that lifespan was good enough. But I don't brake until slowing to 50 mph, and rarely ever brake hard. The pads aren't that expensive, but the time to swap them out! (or labor charge if I don't do it myself)

jetdriven Posted February 10, 2021 Report Posted February 10, 2021 rapco discs but the pads tend ot not have as much friction as cleveland pads.; we pulled them off and it stops better with Clevelands.
