Guest Posted December 7, 2020 Report Posted December 7, 2020 Now if those student A&P’s could fit one of those engines in the background into it, it would be a real performer. Clarence Quote

A little ingenuity, a cantilever pylon, heatshield along the underside and gear extensions. G2G.... Quote
cctsurf Posted December 7, 2020 Report Posted December 7, 2020 Need to mount an o-360 on it so that the future A&Ps can learn how tight it gets inside of a mooney cowl... Quote

They can just follow Boeing's foot steps. If engine is too big to fit, glue it, tape it, or whatever it takes. If the airplane doesn't fly well after that, slap on a half baked software fix and call it good.. Quote
corn_flake Posted December 7, 2020 Report Posted December 7, 2020 @Alan Fox I love this idea. Let's all new A&Ps trained on Mooney. This will help us maintain the fleet. I think you are on to something!! 1 Quote
carusoam Posted December 7, 2020 Report Posted December 7, 2020 For Grimmy the Reaper... this is a unusual turn of events.... And quite beneficial for the Mooney/GA community... Now, for the background oration going on? .... I think I hear a narrator.... Well, in Whoville they say – that the Grinch's small heart grew three sizes that day. Best regards, -a- 1 Quote

We have three of those along with an airworthy F86 to make some sweet jet engine music! IMG_4412.MOV Quote

The Whittle engines and the derivatives had double-entry centrifugal compressors, and look a lot different. https://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/Visit/Museum-Exhibits/Fact-Sheets/Display/Article/195718/general-electric-j31/ Quote
1964-M20E Posted December 8, 2020 Report Posted December 8, 2020 Cool I was trying to figure out what was on the front of the plane then I realized it was a student's solution to W&B calculations that needed some correcting. Quote
