Amos Greene Posted November 12, 2020 Report Posted November 12, 2020 It looks like this m20 has been damaged. Do you have any information on this particular Mooney. Quote
carusoam Posted November 12, 2020 Report Posted November 12, 2020 Welcome aboard Amos. I’ll let @Jerry Pressley know you are asking... Best regards, -a- Quote
Jerry Pressley Posted November 12, 2020 Author Report Posted November 12, 2020 yes had a ding in the lh wing where the two skins overlap. has been repaired but needs an annual and possibly paint. flew from long island to ky then morristown tn. photos show damage and ready to ferry wing repaired now owner won.t pay Quote
neilpilot Posted November 12, 2020 Report Posted November 12, 2020 Presumably, other than ferry to maintenance this aircraft hasn't flown in over 4 years. Suspect last annual was July 2015.https://www.aircraft.com/aircraft/166494901/n5783d-1985-mooney-m20j-201 Could be that the windsock that it hit is in better shape. http://www.kathrynsreport.com/2016/01/mooney-m20j-201-n5783d-incident.html 1 Quote
Jerry Pressley Posted November 14, 2020 Author Report Posted November 14, 2020 Looks like no activity as only listed on here so think it will go cheap. Quote
kortopates Posted November 14, 2020 Report Posted November 14, 2020 (edited) It is being sold with the log books, or without the logs and cooperation of the 3 owners? Looks like original interior and mostly original avionics and engine at around TBO and probably not Ads-B out equipped yet. Kinda looks like its still a long ways away from a full resurrection after sitting all those years. Edited November 14, 2020 by kortopates 1 Quote
Captnmack Posted November 16, 2020 Report Posted November 16, 2020 Buy for $30-35k because it will get bid up, spend another $40-50k getting it right and you will be close to what they are selling for basically. On the other hand might get lucky..... Quote
Cruiser Posted November 16, 2020 Report Posted November 16, 2020 Is the wing repair signed off and approved in the logbooks or is an approval still required ? Quote
Mcstealth Posted November 18, 2020 Report Posted November 18, 2020 (edited) Log books are with the plane. It is unclear if the repairs have been signed off or not. The lienholder is now Bank of America not any of the previous owners. She is available for preview. Edited November 18, 2020 by Mcstealth 1 1 Quote

Often when planes are repossessed by the bank, do to the circumstances, the plane gets auctioned without logbooks. @Mcstealth answered the question though if they were available. Proper lien releases so title is clear. Will need both mechanical lien, and financial liens released for auction sale to be complete. Quote
Jerry Pressley Posted November 21, 2020 Author Report Posted November 21, 2020 the auction clears all prior liens and former owners. lots of preparations before auction. escrow not released to lien holder until all paperwork completed. you can bid on phone if you get setup by calling 423 231 3491 before sunday evening. jerry pressley Quote
wcb Posted November 21, 2020 Report Posted November 21, 2020 If someone was considering experimental this might make a great bird instead. Take this one on the cheap go through it and rebuild it top to bottom. Big assumptions you are an A&P or can work closely with one that can sign off and then there is the whole potential corrosion issue. Quote
Captnmack Posted November 21, 2020 Report Posted November 21, 2020 Jerry, Have you seen this plane in person? If so, any corrosion? Mack Quote
wcb Posted November 21, 2020 Report Posted November 21, 2020 I think Jerry might be the mechanic with the mechanics lien which is why he may want to see it sold (which is all good the plane needs to be sold and some tlc) 1 Quote
