Has anyone ever heard of banner towing with a Mooney?  Going through the logs I noticed it had a banner tow hook installed in 63 when it had 50 hours on it.  The hook was removed in 66 so they did not do it very long however.  It just seems like using a Corvette to haul gravel...

So Bonanzas have an option for a flare dispersal system   It used to be that for commercial ops you had to be able to drop some flares to see where you were landing.    Then the story about how someone got their nick name when they started a forest fire.

Just seems like a good option to have.

Person too close in the pattern.  deploy flares.

Banner towing and Mooney flying are on opposite ends of the spectrum....

If you see banner towing in NJ... you are typically watching planes fly as slowly as possible down 100 miles of beach where all the face mask wearing eyeballs congregate...

Ground crew sets up the banner...pilot dives down to catch it... if  he has it, he heads for the beach.... When he comes back, he drops it like a bomb... then once around the patch to snag the next banner...

Lots of safety of flight issues/training with banner towing, airspeed, and picking up the banner... lots of opportunities for stalls...

Typical beach banner tower has a big engine on the front, open air cooling, high wing and some crop dusters like a Pawnee.... expect deep ROP is the mode of operation...

Incredibly long hours of ultra slow flight in a high traffic environment.... hot days, less than 1k’ agl...or MSL for that matter....

Nice to see Sean is here!

+1 on the only banner towing Mooney I am familiar with... from psy’s video...

Best regards,
