sabwjz Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but I figured I would just verify my thoughts before taking any action. My plane has a tendancy to roll left with hands off the control wheel. Not drastic but gradual. The ball is not centered and a small amount of right rudder seems to fix the rolling tendancy. I'm fairly certain that I need to bend the trailing edge of the rudder as per the maintenance manual to correct the problem. I just wanted to consult with other knowledgable Mooney folks to verify my idea. Thanks Quote
Piloto Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 On the outboard side of the left and right flap attach points there is a set screw for adjusting the flap retracted position. If the plane rolls left you can trim the left flap down or the right flap up (no more than two turns). To decide which flap to adjust align the ailerons with the wing and see which flap would come closer to aileron alignment. Do not bend the rudder surface. Rudder alignment is done at the alieron/rudder connecting rod underneath the pilot floor. José Quote
MooneyMitch Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Another thought.................if your Mooney is equipped with the PC Wing Leveler system, and your control knob is centered while in flight, there could possibly be a leak or other problem with the system. Quote
Magnum Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 First you should check the rigging with the travel boards. Then you can start bending the trailing edges, but consult the manual before. sabwjz Posted July 25, 2009 Author Report Posted July 25, 2009 Well I fixed the problem. I tweaked the outboard flap up stops and the plane flys great hands off. Thanks for the info. Quote
