Speed Merchant Posted July 8, 2020 Report Posted July 8, 2020 Hi We are completing a JPI 930 installation in my 1984 201 s/n 1442. I can't find the shunt for the stock alternator. Can someone tell we where the stock one is mounted? Thanks Curt Quote
carusoam Posted July 9, 2020 Report Posted July 9, 2020 Hey Curt, I would expect on the firewall... with two large wires going to and from it.... and a pair of ammeter wires as well... Let’s ask @M20Doc (location of the shunt for an 84J) Best regards, -a- Quote

carusoam Posted July 9, 2020 Report Posted July 9, 2020 The blue box is an auto message sender... (message sent already) ... and with Kortopates and PT20J ringing in... you have gotten some pretty solid answers... -a- Quote
kortopates Posted July 9, 2020 Report Posted July 9, 2020 Thanks- do you know what it is mounted to? As Skip stated above, it's mounted behind the far right quarter panel with all the CB. The whole thing pulls out about 4-5", not a lot but enough. Besides being secured from the front it's also secured with hardware from below and the outside fuselage - don't really recommend tackling this till you look at the documentation in the service manual that provides all the details of what you need to know.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted July 9, 2020 Report Posted July 9, 2020 It is really easy to get to if you pull the right radio rack. Sometimes easier than it sounds. Quote

As others have said, many electrical items are between the firewall and instrument panel, above the copilots knees. Access can be a challenge, removing the seat, or the circuit breaker panel helps. carusoam Posted July 9, 2020 Report Posted July 9, 2020 Hey Curt / @Speed Merchant A bunch of answers have rolled in for you... (you should get a red light at the top of your screen, an indication of the blue box being used) Best regards, -a- Quote
