My subscription with Jeppesen is only for the south central region. I got my chart updates yesterday and found that Jepp tells me that they are deleting military procedures (which is fine with me). But then they list the charts to delete, which includes all the approach and departure procedures for the Dallas metroplex. I really can not believe these procedures are bing tossed by the FAA (or whoever),  nor can I believe that Jepp is no longer providing charts for SIDS and STARS. I surmise this is just an erroer on their part. Or am I missing something. This happened on Saturday so I can't call Jepp yet.

Well, I guess the choices are....

1. Nobody has Jeppesen charts

2. Nobody with Jepp charts is in the South Central area

3. Nobody cares whether they have arrival or departure procedures

4. Nobody else got their revision notice yet

5. I'm the only one who got a notice like that

6. Everybody figures they can't do anything about it, and will just wait and see

7. Everybody has the explanation figured out, and doesn't want me make me to look dumb

 8. Some other explanation I haven't thought of.

Anyway, I e-mailed Jeppesen and am waiting for a response

9. I subscribe online and have the Jepp mobile TC app for the ipad.  I did confirm they are still in the online directory, so there is some technical snafu likely.

I think that all the iPad app manufacturers have put a pretty big dent in Jeppesen's GA customer base.

Since I got my IR, I was a dyed in the wool Jeppesen customer. It was a badge of honor to have that brown book in my flight bag. But since I got my iPad and have the entire US EVERYTHING for less than half of what I paid for just the California express publication, I've switched entirely to NACO charts and plates. It's cheaper, more convenient and I don't have to try to get a "Trip Kit" (another $75 or something like that) if I'm going to Seattle.

I saw this video on YouTube the other day:

I wonder why this "GA focus" is suddenly something Jeppesen is interested in. Competition is a good thing!! I still like Jeppesen plates but no way will I pay the amount of money Jeppesen wants for their products. They even started out pricing the electronic plates higher than paper. What freaking planet do they live on? They've come down a bit but I think that shows they thought a lot more of themselves than their customers did!

I am quite happy running WingX with NACO plates and my SkyRadar receiver producing METARs/TAFs/TFRs,/NOTAMS/PIREPS/NEXRAD and more soon to come. Best of luck with your "GA Focus" Jeppesen...you're gonna need it!

Dave,

I agree with you 100%. I really like the Jepp charts, but as soon as my subscription expires, I will buy an Ipad and go with NACO.  It's a shame.

Here is the response I got from Jeppesen.

 "Thank you for contacting us.

We see that replacements should have been included for these pages. We have placed an order to resend these revised SIDs and STARs. Please expect these to arrive within 5-7 business days.."
