Are these guys gone? Their website doesn’t seem to work. I have a pair of lightly used low wing jacks pn1454 but they’re about an inch too tall for my Mooney. I’m wondering if I could just replace the bottle jack part (since the base etc is pretty impressive).

My airplane had to go into the shop for some kind of maintenance this year, don't recall exactly what.  I do remember that they took their time getting going, and the shop steward told. me they had to repair a Mooney that had taken a home made jack through the wing.

A pipe(or jack handle) through the knuckle in the main gear gives a safe lift point for a trolley jack to give the 1” lift needed to get the wing jack in position. Not as elegant as a shorter jack but cheaper.

On my jacks (Alpha Aviation, but very similar design) I have to physically push the piston down into the cylinder so that it is low enough to get under the airplane.

I tried that but it’s already bottoming out.

Is there enough of the piston sticking out to be cut off? One of the guys on the field cut 2+” off his jacks, then re-dimpled it for the Jack-points

Had the same problem when I bought my jacks from retiring Mooney owner at 0S9 few years ago. I would roll the plane on 2X4s before jacking up or my mechanic would slightly lift the wing with his shoulder. Then I replaced the gear pucks and that was not needed anymore.

YMMV.

Cheers,

Maybe. It would be a shame. These are really nice jacks. Not even scratched yet. And built beefy.

I’ve seen a wing dented in from lifting it with a shoulder. Probably can get away with it if the lifting force is below a rib, but in the middle between them the alum is pretty thin outboard.
