bradp Posted April 13, 2020 Report Posted April 13, 2020 Because not much flying is going on right now, my lovely put her hand through the vent, and I have access to a 3D printer figured I'd hone my soildworks skills a bit more. 5
Vance Harral Posted April 13, 2020 Report Posted April 13, 2020 Those look great! Let us know how the prototypes turn out, and... if you'd be willing to share the solidworks data
carusoam Posted April 13, 2020 Report Posted April 13, 2020 If you get to choose the material you can use... ABS should work pretty well... If doing research around MS... Switch covers are being successfully owner manufactured around here somewhere... Best regards, -a-
bradp Posted April 13, 2020 Author Report Posted April 13, 2020 Anthony seems like Abs and ASA are good for UV and temp resistance. How about PETG? Seems like a good compromise. I’ll post the STL file when I get it working. B
Dale Logsdon Posted April 13, 2020 Report Posted April 13, 2020 (edited) Vantage Plane Plastics has them for $50 P/N: K130078-511. Edited April 13, 2020 by Dale Logsdon 1
carusoam Posted April 13, 2020 Report Posted April 13, 2020 PETG is an upscale version of PET (soda bottle plastic) PETG gets thermoformed to make large outdoor signs... so... pretty tough, not super temperature resistant... Sometimes gets used in beverage bottles for beer... better at keeping O2 out of your beer, O2 allows spoiling the flavor... Should work well for vent louvers... Naturally it is going to be clear... lightly pigmented will be opaque... Should be interesting... The G is a glycol group hanging off the polyester chain... probably adds some rigidity to the material where PET won’t be very rigid until very thick... Best regards, -a- 1

hmasing Posted March 29, 2024 Report Posted March 29, 2024 Did the STL's make it for others to use? I'm in this exact same boat.
