Planegary Posted March 7, 2020 Report Posted March 7, 2020 Am getting ready to finally start going on a few weekend trips and saw a cabin cover on a Mooney on a ramp made by Macs. I figure I would need a cover to protect my new w/s and side glass and protection from leaks in case of rain. Is this cover a recommended cover ? And why? Pro or con. Thanks for any input Quote
tmo Posted March 7, 2020 Report Posted March 7, 2020 (edited) I believe @Yooper Rocketman and @Ricky_231 both spoke highly of Mac's Covers See this thread Edited March 7, 2020 by tmo 1 Quote
Ragsf15e Posted March 7, 2020 Report Posted March 7, 2020 Bruces came with my airplane and it’s been real nice too. https://www.aircraftcovers.com Quote
Planegary Posted March 7, 2020 Author Report Posted March 7, 2020 Well I have been looking online at both macs and Bruce’s covers and Bruce’s is quite a bit more. The question is is it worth the extra money ? Will be using it for 3-5 days 3-4 times a year als what about the size of it folded up? Quote
carusoam Posted March 7, 2020 Report Posted March 7, 2020 Some planes live outdoors under their covers... Some days your plane will be outdoors under full gale winds... that will turn Cessna’s on their backs... my O used to be pictured on JIM Cancil’s site. the pic was taken after one of these nights... Jim has since retired... Select a good cover, when you can’t get a hangar... https://mooneyspace.com/search/?q=Bruce cover&updated_after=any&sortby=relevancy&search_and_or=and https://mooneyspace.com/search/?q=Mac cover&updated_after=any&sortby=relevancy&search_and_or=and Best regards, -a- Quote
Ragsf15e Posted March 7, 2020 Report Posted March 7, 2020 Bruces fits in a big duffel that comes with the cover. Fits in the hatrack. It seems to be high quality, although I don’t have anything to compare it to. Quote
Planegary Posted March 7, 2020 Author Report Posted March 7, 2020 (edited) Was in iron mountain mi yesterday. Saw a Mooney undergoing what looked like a pitot static check.maybe that was Yooper Rocketman’s airplane. If I had realized it at the time maybe I could have seen his aircraft cover Edited March 7, 2020 by Planegary Grammar errors 1 Quote
chriscalandro Posted March 8, 2020 Report Posted March 8, 2020 I found my Mac cover by walking around the field and seeing what looked like it was holding up vs getting shredded. Quote
Planegary Posted March 8, 2020 Author Report Posted March 8, 2020 Will do that as I get a chance between trips whenever I see a plane with a cover on it before I commit to anything. If anybody has input I would appreciate hearing it Quote

Maybe put a sunscreen over the avionics if it’s hot. -Robert 1 Quote

But ......... I could give you quite the tour of a couple Lancair IVP Propjets in my hangar, one completed and flying, one completely open in final stages of completion. I’m out there nearly every day trying to finish the second one. Everybody in the airport knows me and can direct you to my hangar. Tom Quote

Planegary Posted March 10, 2020 Author Report Posted March 10, 2020 thanks whenever i have a trip op there again and have time i will definitly take you up on that. Normally I have only a 1 hr turn time until pax arrive but would love to see the Lancair Quote
FloridaMan Posted March 14, 2020 Report Posted March 14, 2020 (edited) https://www.airplane-covers.com/ I went with these guys for the Rocket and went with a lower quality material because the plane only occasionally sleeps outside and it made for a lighter and more compact cover to keep in the baggage compartment. I paid a little extra to have them make an access panel for the door since I always seem to forget something after putting on the cover. I also have a cover from Bruce’s for the M20F and they make a solid, high quality product. My only complaint is that I don’t like that it requires replacing a couple screws with those snap screws to snap down the front corners of the cover. Edited March 14, 2020 by FloridaMan Quote
