Am getting ready to finally start going on a few weekend trips and saw a cabin cover on a Mooney on a ramp made by Macs. I figure I would need a cover to protect my new w/s and side glass and protection from leaks in case of rain. Is this cover a recommended cover ? And why? Pro or con. Thanks for any input

Well I have been looking online at both macs and Bruce’s covers and Bruce’s is quite a bit more. The question is is it worth the extra money ?  Will be using it for 3-5 days 3-4 times a year als what about the size of it folded up?

Some planes live outdoors under their covers...

Some days your plane will be outdoors under full gale winds... that will turn Cessna’s on their backs... my O used to be pictured on JIM Cancil’s site.  the pic was taken after one of these nights...   Jim has since retired...

Select a good cover, when you can’t get a hangar...

Bruces fits in a big duffel that comes with the cover.  Fits in the hatrack.  It seems to be high quality, although I don’t have anything to compare it to.

Was in iron mountain mi yesterday. Saw a Mooney undergoing what looked like a pitot static check.maybe that was Yooper Rocketman’s airplane. If I had realized it at the time maybe I could have seen his aircraft cover

Will do that as I get a chance between trips whenever I see a plane with a cover on it before I commit to anything. If anybody has input I would appreciate hearing it

Hahaha. No you don’t need a cover for a few days. Maybe put a sunscreen over the avionics if it’s hot.

I doubt you can mistake a turbine Lancair for a Mooney ;)

With all due respect to you, Mooneys and Lancairs. :)

Sorry, I’m Mooneyless right now (although I will be managing the preparation to sell a very nice E Model this spring for my best friends wife (he passed on Veterans Day).

But  ......... I could give you quite the tour of a couple Lancair IVP Propjets in my hangar, one completed and flying, one completely open in final stages of completion.   I’m out there nearly every day trying to finish the second one.

Everybody in the airport knows me and can direct you to my hangar.

A second IV-P Propjet? Wow, I thought I was redundant with a couple of attitude indicators . . lol.

I went with these guys for the Rocket and went with a lower quality material because the plane only occasionally sleeps outside and it made for a lighter and more compact cover to keep in the baggage compartment. I paid a little extra to have them make an access panel for the door since I always seem to forget something after putting on the cover.

I also have a cover from Bruce’s for the M20F and they make a solid, high quality product. My only complaint is that I don’t like that it requires replacing a couple screws with those snap screws to snap down the front corners of the cover.

Thanks for all the input guys browncbr1 sold me a macs cover that he had extra. Looking at it when it arrived it will be just what I need for those trips down to the gulf coast
