Marauder Posted November 22, 2019 Report Posted November 22, 2019 Mainly Mike Busch's strong recommendation to use W100 straight weight whenever possible, because it adheres to critical components longer after engine turned off and cooled, thus in principle providing longer corrosion protection. I'm not sure of the hard evidence for it though, so I am open to change at the moment. I personally don’t think any one factor plays into how well a plane will hold up to corrosion. Between metallurgy, usage and environmental factors — its a crap shoot whether you will make it to TBO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro 4 Quote

Same with personal health - exercise, sleep, diet, alcohol, smoking, stress, and genetics are all at play. But who really knows how long any of us will last, so no reason to obsess. I think it’s similar for my aging O-360 - time to live a little and run multi weight in the summer 1 Quote
