How is the mini-4 for glare?

I went to the 9.5 inch Pro last year because I found the mini next to unreadable in all but IFR weather.

I have not had any issues with the mini4. Not the best picture, but it’s as bright as the panel avionics. iPad+flight stream makes flying IFR easy. Just push “send to panel” and it all shows up on the GTN.

I run IFD100 on a mini 3 on one yoke and ForeFlight on a mini 4 mounted in the other yoke and honestly don’t notice a lot of difference between the two. Direct sunlight is the only time I start moving things around to see things better.

hopefully the mini 5 doesnt have all the wasted space around it like the other ipads.  Its 2019.  It shouldnt have a bezel.  My mini4 is still pretty much perfect for what i need. If the new gen of ipads has way more horsepower foreflight will start to code to that and the 3s and 4s will start to seem slow even with new batteries.  Then Ill upgrade.  grudgingly.  I only have an ipad in my life because of foreflight.

I have a Pro 11. The lack of bezel is a blessing and a curse. Having a bezel is nice to rest finger on and not accidentally touch / change something on the screen

I used a Mini 2 - until it got overtaken by processor not being able to keep up.

Then I went to a Mini 4, which is working just fine.  I traded my Stratus in for a Sentry so ADSB In, (for traffic, wx - incl enroute METARS) is just fine.   I keep the Mini 2 as a backup.

My phone is a 5S but I may allow myself a faster (newer) version of the iPhone that I can stick on my sunshade (a la @Piloto) to act as my next backup.  In hard IFR approaching the IAF, I now use the synthetic vision as a reference for GPS and ILS approaches.  Much less chasing of the needle - corrections are done in finer increments and it looks much better - in other words, I trust the real needles more.
