Fred,

See if you can find two manuals...

  • parts
  • Service and Maintenance

The procedures are in the MM.

The parts is an interesting catalog for every nut and bolt in the plane...

Best regards,

I'm assisting with the annual inspection the week after next.  I watched last year as the annual was part of pre-buy inspection.  This year I plan to be more engaged.  Does anyone have instructions for checking the landing gear pre-load?  I'd like to study that procedure before hand so I understand how it is done and what it accomplishes.

Fred, as mentioned the MM has the necessary verbiage, however checking the gear pre-load is very much a hands on activity.  Feeling exactly when the first movement of the link happens while moving the torque wrench takes a little practice.

The nose gear preload is measured differently depending on model and year.

Thanks -a-.  I've got both.  Just thought maybe there was a separate doc with a concise description.

There are some pretty good descriptions on here.   do a google search    mooneyspace gear preload       Some involve using a cut up beer can as a feeler gauge.
