RobertGary1 Posted September 29, 2018 Report Posted September 29, 2018 I’ve glued my mixture control end several times but it broke again. Looks like it would be trivial to 3D print if someone had the file. -Robert Quote
Hephaestus Posted September 29, 2018 Report Posted September 29, 2018 Got a decent camera and some pictures? If it's not too nasty I'll draw it up. 1 Quote
Bartman Posted September 29, 2018 Report Posted September 29, 2018 A while back someone posted some made of aluminum that were anodized the proper color and shape. They looked nice. 2 Quote

That would be me. A former MooneySpace member made it to my specifications. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro 3 Quote
Marauder Posted September 29, 2018 Report Posted September 29, 2018 I just bumped another thread where another member made one back in April. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Quote

Marauder Posted September 29, 2018 Report Posted September 29, 2018 Do you think he’d still make some ? I got to see if I can find his name first. It was over 3 years ago and he had just sold his Mooney. He also made a bunch of us those fire extinguisher holders. I’ll look when I get back to my PC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Quote
Hephaestus Posted September 29, 2018 Report Posted September 29, 2018 (edited) Like I said - If you guys get me a picture of the lever and dimensions on it - and an idea of what you want the handle to be (I see a few versions) it's only a few minutes in CAD to draw it up and 45-1hr to print it... There's a mixture lever based off a 60s money pic I found... Guessing the lever is about 1" flatbar with a 1/4" hole? Fusion 360 says I spent 8 minutes on it... With rendering. 38 minute print with a .8 nozzle on my railcore. Edited September 30, 2018 by Hephaestus 1 Quote

The details can get even finer Quote

The details can get even finer But it's still plastic, no grain, reduced strength, colors from dye. The radio knob is natural colored paduak from Central America, with a little paint used to bring out the carving. Posted here, there's much more detail visible than when I carved it with magnification. Could have done better cleaning up the paint . . . . . It bled too much into the grain . . . . . Quote
Hephaestus Posted October 4, 2018 Report Posted October 4, 2018 Takes paint, stains, sands carves and glues like wood. I've been playing with the graining, the 3d print actually adds a grain so to speak in layer lines, so it's fairly easy to create a grain texture appearance. Quote
RobertGary1 Posted October 4, 2018 Author Report Posted October 4, 2018 Got a picture. Since we no longer carry coins for size reference I used a aaa battery. 1 Quote
FloridaMan Posted October 4, 2018 Report Posted October 4, 2018 You should have a caliper to measure things. https://www.amazon.com/Anytime-Tools-Caliper-Reading-Standard/dp/B00B5XJW7I/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1538671508&sr=8-8&keywords=caliper Quote
Hephaestus Posted October 4, 2018 Report Posted October 4, 2018 (edited) Is that the generally preferred design? Or did someone have an idea that they'd prefer? Hexagonal is easy, just the question of stock or something nicer. Edited October 4, 2018 by Hephaestus Quote

I wasn't sure what level of precision he wanted. -Robert Quote
Hephaestus Posted October 4, 2018 Report Posted October 4, 2018 Calipers are good my favorite tool next to my 60s vintage slide rule. I'm a disturbed individual I know... Quote
