Jeff_S Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Hello Everyone! We are just over three weeks away from Saturday June 4, 2011, which is the PDK Airport Good Neighbor Day and Airshow. As I have mentioned in the past, I created this as the next Mooney Ambassador event here in the Southeast. I have spoken with the Airport Director and confirmed that he would be delighted to have Mooney Ambassadors participate and they can make some space for us in the static display area. Having learned a bit from our Vidalia experience, here are the details.1) The airport will be closing for general traffic at 10:00 a.m., and will not re-open until after the airshow. So I recognize this is a full-day commitment which many won't be able to handle, but if you CAN make the commitment I will tell you there's nothing cooler than seeing the smile on a kid's face when you gently guide him/her into the cockpit and see that first spark of the aviation bug. That's what it's all about!2) So, those planning to attend will need to be in place in the static area by 10am. We have so many Mooneys stationed at PDK, we ought to be able to muster a good number...but I need to have a good handle on how many. So PLEASE, if you want to attend, I need a solid COMMITMENT by PM'ing me here as soon as you can so I can let them know how much space we need.3) Planes will go into position on Saturday morning. For local folks, Mike Van Wie (airport director) said he might cajole Epps into towing them in if you don't feel like taxiing over. Better yet, take a morning cruise over the lake to clear out the week's corrosion and heat up that oil!Okay, please let me know ASAP if you would like to attend and I'll handle the rest.Tail winds,Jeff Schlueter Quote

Jeff_S Posted June 5, 2011 Author Report Posted June 5, 2011 Hey Everyone, Special thanks to Leigh McArthur, Dave Snyder and Darwin Puls for attending the Mooney Ambassadors at PDK Good Neighbor Day yesterday. We had a nice diamond formation of four stellar 201s on the ground, and drew many enthusiastic kids and Mooney lovers. I snapped just a few pics which I attach here, and will post on the Facebook site as well. Cheers, Jeff Quote
Becca Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 Anyone visit with the Yellow Jacket Flying Club folks? I had good times in those airplanes when I was back at Georgia Tech (well to be fair, they sold a lot of the airplanes I had good times in and replaced them, but a couple are still around). Between the Mooney Ambassadors and YJFC being out there, I was tempted to make the flight all the way from Houston, but life got in the way. Quote
