N9405V Posted January 31, 2018 Report Posted January 31, 2018 So today I’m replacing the rear position light and while I’ve got the light fixture detached from the plane I notice a wire down in the tail cone. I thought it might go to the position light but it doesn’t. Any idea what it is there for.? It’s doesn’t appear to be attached to anything. I’ll dig out the service and parts manual when I get to the office tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
N9405V Posted January 31, 2018 Author Report Posted January 31, 2018 What kind of wire? Any pictures? Looked like the same kind of wire that went to the position light. No pictures...Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
carusoam Posted January 31, 2018 Report Posted January 31, 2018 There is only one wire back there...that I can remember. It goes to power the white tail light... Anything else in the bottom is something the birds dragged in to build a nest... Check for about three or four drain holes while you are in there... Best regards, -a-
RLCarter Posted January 31, 2018 Report Posted January 31, 2018 Mine had the strobe moved from the bottom of the aircraft to the top which left an orphaned wire.
Ron McBride Posted January 31, 2018 Report Posted January 31, 2018 Are you seeing the coax for the nav antennae? This would be black and a 1/4" thick.

BDPetersen Posted January 31, 2018 Report Posted January 31, 2018 If it was my plane it would be the ground wire I ran fron the beacon to the battery to eliminate magnetic interference. Apparently grounding is a black art. 1
