So today I’m replacing the rear position light and while I’ve got the light fixture detached from the plane I notice a wire down in the tail cone. I thought it might go to the position light but it doesn’t. Any idea what it is there for.? It’s doesn’t appear to be attached to anything.

I’ll dig out the service and parts manual when I get to the office tomorrow.

What kind of wire?
Any pictures?

Looked like the same kind of wire that went to the position light. No pictures...

There is only one wire back there...that I can remember.

It goes to power the white tail light...

Anything else in the bottom is something the birds dragged in to build a nest... Check for about three or four drain holes while you are in there...

Best regards,

Are you seeing the coax for the nav antennae? This would be black and a 1/4" thick.

No, this is in the part right below the rudder.

If it was my plane it would be the ground wire I ran fron the beacon to the battery to eliminate magnetic interference. Apparently grounding is a black art.
