The town of Smithville, TX, has announced the hiring of J.D and Laura Casteel (Southwest Texas Aviation) to run the FBO at Smithville's Crawford Airport.

For those of you who don't know... they run an excellent Mooney MSC. They've been maintaining my 252 since I bought it. In fact, I've moved from a hangar at KHYI out to a hangar at 84R for the convenience of being on the field with them... and the cheap hangar rent.

Well, I'll go for the district extra the city, but prosperous may be open to interpretation. Smithville is just sort of out there.

"Out there" is often a nice place to be. Google "Eclectic, AL" it's pretty out, and I'm about 9 miles out from it, to the north; if you hit water, you done gone a bit too far.

Wish there was a decent Mooney-knowledgeable FBO nearby . . . .

I stopped in to see them in my company's C182 last Thursday.  It'll be great for the local airport to have them there.
