Our 65C is currently at 1950SFOH, but running well with good compressions and low oil consumption (1 qt every 7-10 hours).  Our current plugs are showing wear, and it's time for a new set.

I think we can rule out fine wires, primarily due to engine time.  Were leaning toward ordering a set of Tempest UREM37BY.  The archives are mostly positive toward the 37BYs, and I'm not aware of any downside to them vs the UREM38E or UREM40E.  I'm interested in hearding comments in answer to Clarence's old post below.

Hey, Neil.  I actually just replaced my champion spark plugs with UREM37BYs.  Running great so far.  I have not noticed any difference in economy or power output but my mechanic swears by these spark plugs, so I think they are a good way to go.

I have a '65C, and that's the plug I installed a year or two ago.  Been running fine.  Can't feel any difference, but I can't remember the last time I had an issue with fouling.  I'm at 1050-1100 SMOH.

I ordered mine from Chief, and I had to tell them that it was a 5/8"-24 plug.

I also put these plugs in when I had a lead fouling incident about a hundred hours after I purchased my M20C. They're working great so far and seem much more resistant to lead fouling.

Appreciate all replies.  The shop doing my annual, also engine rebuilders, agrees that UREM37BY are a fine choice.  I just ordered a set from Aircraft Spruce.  Found it interesting that Chief does not currently offer this plug.

I've had those plugs for over two years I think now. Not one incident of fouling in that time and she runs smooth.

I just finished putting all new RM38Es in my O-360 this morning, and with the new ignition harness from a couple of months ago and a rebuilt left magneto, she's running like a new plane again. Now to finish up that IPC!
