Here is a better but still sideways picture. It is the horizontal blade coming off of the vertical stabilizer.

Funny how they replaced the old VOR/ILS rod antennae with that blade, or is that an antenna also?

As far as I can tell, their only purpose is to collect ice.

They are antennas/antennae, VOR/Glide Slope, sometimes both!
