mccdeuce Posted March 5, 2017 Report Posted March 5, 2017 So for the most part my audio panel and radios are perfect... for the most part. I have a GMA340, SL-30 nav/comm and an IFD440 (previously GNS430) Problem 1) Select comm 1, IFD comm sounds great. Select comm 2 SL30 comm sounds great. Select both comm 1 and comm 2 and SL30 still sounds fine but IFD is very static on the transmission. experimenting if this has to do with both radios standby freq monitoring. Problem 2) aux music 2 works as advertised and brings music to all 4 seats. Aux music 1 doesn't work at all. I am inclined to think wiring issues, and have also thought about upgrading to PMA8000, PMA450 or the AMX240, but obviously don't want to bring issues forward. Anyone troubleshot these before? cnoe Posted March 5, 2017 Report Posted March 5, 2017 To clarify...IIRC you cannot select both "Com/Mic" buttons simultaneously, but you can select one "Com/Mic" and a "Com" (receive-only) at the same time.I too have some degradation of sound quality (in my own headset) when transmitting on 1 while also monitoring 2. This seems more pronounced while on the ground.I've been told that the close proximity of the radio antennas may be partly to blame and I believe it's exacerbated by ground reflection/interference.I also believe that others' reception quality is unaffected by this phenomenon. This may not be your situation but it is simply my experience with a similar (though not identical) setup.I have no comment on your music issue. I also don't know if a different audio panel would change anything. Not sure my comments help.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
mccdeuce Posted March 6, 2017 Author Report Posted March 6, 2017 Same panel. You are correct you can not select both except for the com 1/2 for pilot/copilot isolation. I will look to see if my transmissions are actually garbled or if it is just my headset. Thanks Quote
cnoe Posted March 6, 2017 Report Posted March 6, 2017 Ask a fellow pilot to assess the quality of your transmissions from another plane while airborne. This has annoyed me too in the past but isn't necessarily a serious issue. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
LANCECASPER Posted March 6, 2017 Report Posted March 6, 2017 See if someone on your field or your local shop has a GMA 340 you could slide in to see if you are getting the same symptoms. Quote
