scottfromiowa Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 I love looking at everybody's panels to get ideas and see what everyone is doing/planning. How about a big link with a panel shot (current) and discussing what your plans are for the future? Post a new photo when you upgrade...or a mock up of what you want it to look like. Should be a nice collection of Pre-J panels from OEM vintage to various themes on updating. Will be a nice "go to" spot to view a bunch of panels...and follow-up with PM to owner if they did something you really like/or are thinking about undertaking...I look forward to seeing everybody's "inside". aschardt Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 Not a full shot, but you get the idea. Cut off on the left is a JPI 700, turn and bank, and airspeed, mag switch, etc, on the right the suction guage, elt indicator, master switch, etc. Quote
flight2000 Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 Here's my current arrangement. More changes are coming in February. I have a UBG-16, FP-5L, and an STEC-30 w/GPSS going in. Probably going to add a vertical compass card as well. I wanted the Aspen, but that will have to wait for a little longer. The yokes are also going out for powder coating once all of the necessary holes are drilled for the A/P and new PTT switches. Brian Quote
N6752U Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 This was my personal effort at a panel, it is a one piece flat panel mounted verticaly and on rubber isolators in my "63" C model. Additional features include ring lighting and silk screened labeling. Quote

pilot716 Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 How about some suggestions for replacing this panel, If I go ahead and purchase this 70' 20F! new clean panel with GNS430w & STEC A/P? what ya think! Quote
Espeed Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 This isn't a great shot, but was all that I had on hand. It already had the 201 style updated panel and yokes when I bought it, I am getting ready to yank the 170 and Loran and replace with a 430 WAAS. Quote
eaglebkh Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Here are some full panel shots, before and after, of my '64 E. I like the "clean" look, The co-pilot side looks bare, but there is room for JPI-730 in the near future. I currently suction-mount my Garmin over there, though I like the idea of mounting it on the center post. Still to come: 430W and JPI-730 Also, for anyone looking for ideas on mounting switches on factory yokes, check out my A/P switches. Quote
rob Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Here's my 65C. Panel includes: Aspen Pro 1000 PFD, S-Tec 30, EI UBG-16 & FP-5L, Garmin 340, 430W, SL30, 327, and Aera. Quote
eldeano Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Basic six pack and Garmin IFR stack, all installed by a previous owner. I want to get an engine analyzer and an autopilot in the future. That would make me . Quote

Steve65E-NC Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Some modification or port panal layout Quote

flight2000 Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 Quote: DaV8or Interesting that you chose to ditch the KX-125 over the KX-155. Not saying it's wrong, just curious because I now own a KX-125 and have little experience with it. Is it less reliable than a KX-155? Also, I noticed you ditched your vacuum annunciator lights and put in a 1" vacuum gauge. Did this require a field approval? While the vacuum gauge is TSO'd, it is a modification of the type certificate and so might require some sort of paperwork blah, blah, blah, no? Quote

AlexR Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 Quote: flight2000 Wow, love those yokes! Try the center post mount for the 496. I recently moved mine and now wonder why I went a year before moving it. Brian edit: Now I see the vertical card would have to be moved up a little higher on the post to get the 496 below it. It'll be interesting to see what you come up with. Quote
scottfromiowa Posted January 15, 2011 Author Report Posted January 15, 2011 W.O.W, some REALLY nice panels! My personal favorite is aschardt. That is one well equipped bird...but many that are really significantly upgraded from OEM. Keep 'em coming. Scott Quote
Urs_Wildermuth Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 Here is my 1965 M20C. It came with what you see here, pic is by the previous owner. Recently, the Transponder got replaced with a TRIG TT31, for European requirements of Mode S. I decided on the Trig in order to have ADS-B while I was at it and also because it is by far the most economical.I am very happy with it. All the other installations were done pre-purchase. I am looking to install an autopilot, for I do want to travel regularly with 3-4 hour legs. I notice that most of you who have an AP have a STEC-30 installed? What are your experiences? I think it is basically the only AP approved for the "C" other than the Brittain ones. The alternative I am considering is getting a Brittain Heading Hold/Select (TruFlite?) and an S-TEC Altitude hold or pitch channel (System 60 Alt), combined with an Aspen at a later stage. Opinions would be appreciated, also on any other AP's installed. As I just went through a full engine overhaul these things will have to wait a bit, but they'll get done eventually Quote
yellowjacket Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 Here is a picture of the left side panel of my SWTA 201 style instrument panel. This is in my 68 M20F. It has a Garmin 430WAAS, Aspen PFD, STec 30A, JPI 700 with fuel flow, a KX-155, Garmin 340 audio panel and a yoke mounted Garmin 496 for weather. All the round gage instruments have Nu Lites. It is a very good layout and a real good IFR platform. I installed the instrument panel in 1999 with the help of my A&P/IA and Tim Mathison of Gann Aviation installed the Aspen, 430 WAAS, audio panel and STEC autopilot in 2009. Jim Quote
GXPD Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 Present panel left and right and concept for upgrading to Aspens. Last picture shows mounding of Garmin and AV80r Ace on right side. Although the Ace is a super GPS, I haven't quite given up on the Garmin yet. Quote
