TTSN 65.3 (2400 TBO) and in excellent condition. Installed in December 2015 and removed in Sept 2016. The prop's model number is HC C2YR 1BFP/7497 PRICE: $7450, shipping included (Lower 48). These kits can be bought new excluding shipping for about $9400 from Hartzell or $8400 from a dealer. Aviationinfo Posted October 14, 2016 Author Report Posted October 14, 2016 (edited) New group of partners bought the plane and desired an MT 3- blade. The time to change it out if we were going to, was while the prop had such low time on it. Edited October 14, 2016 by Aviationinfo Quote
MB65E Posted October 15, 2016 Report Posted October 15, 2016 So you guys bought 2 new props in 1 year? How do you like the MT compaired? Not many change from the top prop to the MT. I've seen the MT be a course of upgrade with the Hub AD. But Wow, -Matt Quote
Aviationinfo Posted October 15, 2016 Author Report Posted October 15, 2016 The plane had this prop on it when we bought it from the previous owner. (We didn't buy two props in a year.) We replaced it with the MT. We have 4 partners and it's part of a long term restoration plan for the airplane. We felt that the only 3 blade prop we could use without a performance decrease over the Top Prop was the MT. That appears to be the case. Happy to talk about the MT in another thread. 1 Quote
Oscar Avalle Posted October 15, 2016 Report Posted October 15, 2016 I would be interested, but I need to see if the spinner can be used with the ARI mod that I have on my cowling. Quote

You'll need to check if the 201 (j-model) spinner you have on your ARI mod will fit on the top prop. Otherwise you'll have to buy a spinner to go with the prop. Quote

Looking at the Hartzell Top Prop paperwork, the 201 qualifying spinner is: A-2295-5P, the paperwork seems to show that it is a necessary part of the installation on a 201 (assumedly a different part than the original 201 spinner) and mentions that other airplanes "If cowling has been modified, a different spinner assembly may be needed, specific modification details are required to help ensure a correct fit." Just a PP interpretation, but as I understand the ARI mod, it requires a 201 spinner. You will probably require the 201 spinner specific to the top prop. The 201 spinner I have experience with for the ARI mod cost ~$1200, I'm guessing this would be similar. With that addition, you may well be able to buy a new top prop with spinner for less than buying this used one. Quote

philiplane Posted October 18, 2016 Report Posted October 18, 2016 Hartzell usually charges $1000 for the permission letter to move an STC'd propeller from one airplane to another. They prefer to sell new propellers, and the used propeller is worthless without it, so they keep the transfer cost high. Quote
Aviationinfo Posted October 18, 2016 Author Report Posted October 18, 2016 (edited) Actually they charge $500 for the Top Prop and we've more than priced ours to compensate, as well as paying for the crating, insurance, and shipping. This is a very good value for someone. Edited October 18, 2016 by Aviationinfo Quote
Alan Fox Posted October 18, 2016 Report Posted October 18, 2016 (edited) The STC package is 500.00 , I recently purchased one... Also , what is the lead time to order a new one (propeller)? it is usually about 4 weeks...... Edited October 18, 2016 by Alan Fox Quote

They don't need no stinkin' STC! Quote
carusoam Posted October 18, 2016 Report Posted October 18, 2016 Iirc, big if..... lead time on my TopProp was about six weeks. The Factory reman'd engine was done in two... Any value in a single point of data? Best regards, -a- Quote
