Joe Larussa Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 (edited) Anybody have a clue what a replacement part number for this might be? I have Whelen A490TCF power supply. 77 M20J thanks Edited September 8, 2016 by Joe Larussa Quote
jetdriven Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 That's a Hoskins tube. I have an aeroflash tube I modified slightly that fits in a hoskins housing. I'll sell it cheap, because it won't triple flash with this TCCF power supply I just bought for it. It does single or double flash though. Quote
rbridges Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 that's a previous thread I created, but your bulb looks a little different than mine, but my memory isn't the greatest. I ended up using an aeroflash bulb. Quote

bradp Posted September 9, 2016 Report Posted September 9, 2016 Joe I have the same year as you. For the stubby wing, the assembly seems to be a Frankenstein of grimes and Hoskins parts that Mooney slapped their own part number on. You and I both have the whelen power supply to even more Frankenstein ish. 2 Quote

And for the sake of good measure, Mooney made sure that the A650 assembly STC did not include the J model ... it is the same "squared" wing tip as the C,E, F ... so most or the early Js end up of a crappy looking yellowed piece of plastic ... but it is FAA approved !!! 1 Quote
jetdriven Posted September 9, 2016 Report Posted September 9, 2016 The Whelen A610 strobe tube won't work. It rattles inside the Hoskins housing and leaks water. The Aeroflash and Hoskins strobe bases have a thick foam piece which seals the tube to the base of the clear glass. I've got a Aeroflash tube with 25 hours on it you can get it for 30$ Quote

While that may solve some issues the wire comes out the back of the tube not the bottom. It's pretty lame but it will get me through the weekend. Quote

jetdriven Posted September 10, 2016 Report Posted September 10, 2016 It was a larger foam base, for a belly strobe or something. So I shaved the foam base diameter to the size of the Hoskins unit. Quote
