Releew Posted August 22, 2016 Report Posted August 22, 2016 Hello all.... a while since I've been on the site. Work and flying!!! My left speed brake is not retracting fully... as in ~1/8 up. When the Master is switched to off, it will pull down flush. I realize these are electric but I do not know exactly how they are supposed to operate. I am assuming some sort of electric actuator to lift up and down and N/C spring return (Down) if Powered Off. It looks like the Brake that is not returning flush is slower in actuation as well. Does anyone have any detail on the system...schematic or experience? Thanks, Rick Quote
M20S Driver Posted August 22, 2016 Report Posted August 22, 2016 Call or E-mail Dave Mollman at Precise Flight (541-585-2421,dave.mollman@preciseflight.com). He is the top speed-brake expert there and very helpful. usually, this is a simple micro switch adjustment on the electric ones but if it is slow to deploy, it may need more TLC. Quote
carusoam Posted August 23, 2016 Report Posted August 23, 2016 See if this helps... https://www.preciseflight.com/general-aviation/shop/speedbrakes/products/speedbrakes-mooney/ The usual wear item in the electric speed brakes is a set of clutches. The typical failure of a clutch leaves one brake deployed. Not a real problem but that's how it lets you know you need a clutch... Check the logs to see when they were replaced last. the other thing is the limit switches. A few people have noted problems. The Precise flight site has all kinds of schematics and things to help identify what is challenging your system. Best regards, -a- Quote
amillet Posted August 23, 2016 Report Posted August 23, 2016 I had the exact same symptoms. Send them to factory for 1000 hour maintence (as required by maintence manual supplement to POH). They'll work like new. Quote
