Just thinking out loud at the number of folks here on MS that post quite frequently that choose not to provide any donations to help maintain the site. Why is that, I think that as a cost to benefit ratio this is about the best bargain in Mooney history.

It's better than my subscription to flying.   Except for Marauder's pictures and Piloto' toes.  Maybe that's why...

Go on, admit it! You love those photos!

Bonal -- three reasons:

1) Mooney owners are cheap

2) Perhaps some feel we should pay them for their participation

3) Did I mention Mooney owners are cheap?

I've often thought the same thing myself. At any given time it seems like less than half of the members currently logged in are supporters. I fully understand a new person who is considering buying a mooney or a casual non owner observer not being a supporter, but it seems there is also a lot of long time regular members who are not supporters. Perhaps there are also a few who have mailed it in and their status has not been updated yet. $10 a year is nothing, I suspect many of the supporters gave a lot more.

If I were to consider my contribution to Mooneyspace as an investment,  I think it's one of the best returns I've realized. Not only in terms of financial benefit but more importantly the safety aspect of the hobby I enjoy. Thanks to all those who contribute....with money and/or knowledge!!

As a newb pilot and vintage Mooney owner, it's been truly an indispensable resource over the past 1.5 years. It's allowed to me to expand my comfort zone much more quickly that I would have otherwise. By internet standards, it's stellar source of expert guidance. Of course a grain of salt is required for a lot of stuff, but the same is true with advice in the real world from any given individual.  Here the community is mostly self-correcting.

And the fuller figured ladies a plentiful if you're into that sort of thing...

OK I'll bite as one of those who has not made a financial donation.  I spend vast amounts of my free time posting what I hope are helpful answers to posters here, looking up, finding and posting information here.  I've  provided free copies of manuals for posters in need, I answer many private emails form posters who won't or don't ask in public.  I've even accept phone calls from posters at home.

I think I've contributed my $10.00 worth.

I'm happy to do my part to contribute to the Mooney community, hopefully helping make some safer. The Mooney market in Canada is only 340 currently registered in the entire country.  Mooney has honoured me with representing the eastern half of the country.  I'm amazed that we never hear form or read posts from some of the well known MSC's in the U.S.

You do more than your part, Clarence. Thank you for that.  I, too, have noted the better-known U.S. MSC's lack of presence here, and MAPA's, too, for that matter.  Perhaps we U.S. MooneySpacers should start ordering our parts through you instead. They get drop shipped from the factory in Texas anyway.  What would the tax and/or currency exchange consequences of that be for those of us here in the U.S. and is a business aspect that you would like to expand upon?

Jim

DMax, for one, is active on the MAPA list and a very long time resource for Mooney owners and their mechanics, whether or not they are his customers. He is a regular presenter at Homecoming, Oshkosh, Mooney Summit and just hosted MooneyMax for owners interested in learning more about the care of their Mooneys.

Even though I spend time here I recognize that MooneySpace is not the only game in town.

And Don is not the only generous Mooney expert.

I am amazed and extremely proud of the guys like Clarence and Don Maxwell that essentially give away what is normally sold. When I practiced law, I would never have even considered joining a list to help people with their legal problems and often avoid them having to hire me, or someone like me.

I also would not even consider the possibility of trying to get information about my car from a car dealership by phone. I have seen Maxwell spend a lot of time talking to people all over the country about their Mooney problems, knowing they were not coming to him for service.

I know that Don, Clarence and others we haven't mentioned, get business from some of us, but I really do not think that is their primary motivation. I think they really like Mooneys and Mooney owners and want to help us.

Thanks guys.

When I asked, Don Maxwell once told me he has to draw a line somewhere on his time answering emails, lists etc and this is why he is not a regular presence on Mooney Space. Trey Hughes is a good friend of his also.

Totally agree and please I'm not making any kind of judgment here just curious. This site is an amazing asset just plugging for its continued good health.

I agree. Everybody gets to make their own judgment about how they contribute or not. I am a charter member of the CB club, but I feel like I get a lot more from MS than I give. I still post advice etc. when I think  have something to contribute. (Some of it may even be accurate :))

Clarence your knowledge is a greatly needed resourse, your vast contributions of technical knowledge are worth  a thousand fold, we should be paying you along with your comrade in Northern Florida, don't let a couple *%# 's bother you!

I'm not bothered by anyone.  I do accept Visa and Master Card though!

I know this has been talked about before, but to me I feel all Mooney owners would benefit from a merger of all the different resources. One form for all.  I certainly appreciate the gent who hosts this site for basically nothing. It would be good if Mooney International would help MAPA modernize there offerings.

1) Yes, I'm a cheap Mooney owner

2) Boy, I really hope nobody puts me in the second category

The main reason I haven't contributed is that I don't have a PayPal account, and my wife already thinks I spend too much time on MooneySpace, if I gave money I'd probably never hear the end of it.

If Mooniac58 messages me an address, I'd be glad to put a fresh, crisp, untraceable $10 bill in the mail and trust that he'd mark me down as a supporter.  For now I have to be okay with seeing the ads.

I've never thought about who's a $$$ supporter or not. All I know is that MS is by far the highest quality online community in which I participate. For that reason I send $50/year because I know what it takes to keep a website running and I want to help keep the lights on. Folks like Clarence add tremendous value in their own way and I appreciate their contributions.
