Oscar Avalle Posted March 28, 2016 Report Posted March 28, 2016 Lately something strange has been happening, when I extend the flaps my left wing drops. The flaps seem to extend at the same time and pace... any other ideas why this is happening? Quote
Hank Posted March 28, 2016 Report Posted March 28, 2016 My first guess is asymmetric flap deployment. Drop them on the ground and measure the angles [or distances below the fuse and level aileron] on both flaps, they should be the same. Second guess would be a leaky PC system, but I would expect that to be out of whack all the time [mine certainly was!). 1 Quote
Piloto Posted March 28, 2016 Report Posted March 28, 2016 Check for flap deformation due to someone heavy stepping on the right flap. The flap deflection can be adjusted at the flap inboard rod end. The belly access panel needs to be removed for this. Check for roll with engine at idle on a shallow dive at approach speed with full flaps. José 1 Quote
RobertGary1 Posted March 29, 2016 Report Posted March 29, 2016 When adjusting the flaps know that it affects both how the plane flys when the flaps are extended as well as the stall characteristic. As a CFI I've flown a number of student's Mooneys that will roll 90 degrees with the flaps out. After adjusting the flaps you'll want to test the stall characteristics. I have mine set up that the plane has a bit of a roll tendency when the flaps are deployed but the stall characteristic is reasonable. Setting them to fly straight resulted in a roll off in stall. -Robert 2 Quote
ryoder Posted April 2, 2016 Report Posted April 2, 2016 I had a similar problem. I needed to disconnect the flap linkage and turn the rod end a few times to correct it. Of course I got a ton of BS on this site for doing so even though I did the work under IA supervision. 1 Quote
