I am looking at a 1977 M20J to purchase, it was recently relisted on eBay Motors

as the reserve was not met on the previuos auction. The aircraft has 3271 TT,

and 65 hrs. on a factory reman. I'm not a Narco fan, however the panel looks serviceable,

has a new leather interior, paint is OEM. It also has a three-blade Sabre prop conversion.

I did contact the seller who indicated that he would take 65K, I haven't heard back about

damage history as of yet, since the total time/tbo/propeller suggest a prop strike, although

the Lycomings can run well past tbo.

I'm kicking my own butt as I let a beautiful 1976 Turbo Viking with 2050TT and 50 hrs. on

a reman go for $40K a couple of months ago, and I really want to fly out West.

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

The seller did get back to me late last night, and it does have a damage history hence reinforcing my time line theory.

As Cruiser mentioned I do need a turbo, and will look for the right machine. I have looked at M20K's but I'm not a Continental fan, and remans are horrifically priced.

i considered that plane but the seller was acting shady.  here is why i declined it.  That engine is only 65 hours since FREM but it is 20 years old.  It flew the 65 hours in the 90s, then was parked in a hangar for 20 years.  and it was major crashed lots of wing repairs its on the web.    Cam corrosion likely, which means a major overhaul.  Plus NARCO radios.   I passed it up, the seller never called back nor sent copies of the logs.  We bought N201EQ from All American and it ws a 4600hr, 1350 SMOH plane with one gear up 10 years ago.

Seller never got back to me either. I snoozed on a Turbo Viking a couple of months ago, 2050TT and 50SFRMAN

for $40K. These airplanes are gaining notariety and are a lot of bang for your buck. There's a lot of 20J'S around

with good times and NDH, it will happen. Thanks for the post.
