I signed up for the PPP at Bullhead City, AZ this weekend. I left on Wed. to stop at Pacific Coast Avionics to have trim servo and auto pilot computer re-installed.  They found other issues with trim disconnect switch that had to be replaced. I was not able to leave there until Thursday AM.  Had to turn back and return home to Washington State on Thursday. Weather in Oregon not passable. Ice in clouds and ceilings below 1000. 1st time in 25 years I haven't been able to complete a planned trip.  Winds at Bullhead today forecast 28-38 though.  Beautiful here on the Olympic Peninsula.

Hmmm. Flew all the way up to Orange County for lunch and no one is here yet. Poor Marauder. Poor Vic, no other Mooneys to keep her company on the ramp.

Even brought one of my girls with me!

Where is the rest of her? She's too thin and too cute for you!

It only took me 10 minutes to inflate her.

It's a nerd herd!...that somehow coerced two attractive women into posing with them! One is hiding her head in shame!

Jay owns the hotel, you'll find him on Pilots of America. Let us know how the hotel is! I think he has courtesy cars for pilots who stay at his hotel. Look for his red RV, too (plane, not a motor home . . .), I just don't remember which model.

Jay does indeed own his own hotel on the Island called Amelia's Landing.  He does have courtesy cars for pilots.  He flies an RV8 that he will gladly and exuberantly tell you all about.  I've heard the hotel is really nice.  If I ever overcome my current maintenance headaches maybe I'll fly down and visit.  Jay has gone to Oshkosh every year for over three decades, I suspect he will  continue to to do so until the Grim reaper does his work.  HIs spot in the  North 40 is easily found as it has a giant banner advertising his hotel.

Today the weather was bad.  600 to 800 foot ceilings and 35kt winds 2500 ft agl.  It was a perfect day for IFR currency.   3 approaches and a hold!  1.5 hours in the plane, 1.2 in IMC

I rented a Cherokee 180 and flew to Williston, FL (X60) for their Pig Roast. It was great, and I talked to the owner of a VERY pretty M20C

No pictures, but made a lunch run to Eufaula KEUF. Took their crew truck into town for lunch at Creole Corner. The grouper was fantastic! And I got all of the crawdads from my wife's pasta.  :P

On departure to come home (field is 326 msl), I kept >1000 fpm all the way to my 3000' cruise altitude. Passing through 2000' the OAT was 72°, dropping to 69° at 3000. A little bumpy but not bad.

Leveled off WOT/2700 at 140 mph, reduced to 23"/2300 and leaned to 50° ROP, speed rose between 145-150, but was too bumpy to stabilize. Not bad for 180 ponies. Need to make a 3-way GPS run, but didn't have the data card--took it home to update. . . So we flew "old school," pilotage and sectional. Worked great.

I took P out for a quick flight before taking my family out for fish and chips at Killarney on the weekend.  I snapped this picture.

You need a rudder trim. Betcha you would squeeze out a few more knots.

I flew about 7 hours this weekend, doing some round robins between the U.P., Lower MI, and Green Bay taking my son to spend the weekend with his girlfriend, and bringing my FBO owner's daughter home and back for the weekend.  I didn't get any shots on Friday, but here's some from last evening.

#1 is looking North over the Door Peninsula, a small island called Plum Island, and the large Island farthest North is Washington Island.

#2 is like Doc's (going down hill), except I had about 20 knots on my nose. :P

#3 is the Frozen Tundra, Lambeau Field.

#4 is the sun setting on my northbound flight from Green Bay home.  I took about 10 of the sun setting, but the Iphone is not the best filtering the brightness out light the eye does.

#5 is flying the ILS 01 into KIMT at about 15 minutes after sunset.
