carusoam Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 (edited) That Perry guy is so good at what he does... He knows the issues and can explain the proper answers, and adjusts them to the appropriate level for his audience. His credentials include being a leader in the Air Force, while flying their jets. He refurbished his first mid-body Mooney before heading to Japan on assignment. He currently flies a very nice Eagle. He is currently Leading the Air Safety Institute for AOPA. Aviation is full of age old traditions. It has been missing the leadership that is required to improve on the 70’s film strip style training and speed up the acquisition of real safety devices like AOA indicators. The real digital age is here with low energy HD screens. Fuel gauges can accurately tell how much fuel you have on board at all times, not just when they are empty. iPads in the cockpit to support navigation are the opposite of the old tradition of throwing out the only paper chart you have because it expired. GA is good for the world. It is a personal economic challenge to keep a pilot flying. The world doesn't want to lose pilots through aged regulations like accelerated Class III medical attrition. The Internet is good, but nothing beats being in a room together. This is what GA does. Build on the tradition, make logical changes. Don't allow stagnation, under the auspices that it saves money somehow. (Really?) There may be fat cats riding in GA planes, about 1%. The same number of fat cats riding in automobiles. Let's not lose sight of the thousands of ordinary people that use and make GA happen everyday. It is going to take somebody like George to deliver the message to Congress. It just makes sense. He flies a Mooney! Keep up the good work, George, Best regards, -a- Edited October 14, 2015 by carusoam Quote
Amelia Posted October 23, 2015 Report Posted October 23, 2015 (edited) George Perry IS very, very good. As one might expect of a career NAVY fighter pilot. Edited October 23, 2015 by Amelia Quote
GeorgePerry Posted November 15, 2015 Report Posted November 15, 2015 Thanks for the kind words! Evolution is required for a species to survive...Even Pilots. Its a privilege to be able to lend my voice to the cause and in a small way help make GA flying a healthy industry and a safe activity. 1 Quote
