LevelWing
A while back I had one of the wingtip fuel gauges somehow fall off. I believe they are magnetic and I'm trying to find a replacment for it but so far haven't had any luck. I called the company earlier but haven't received a phone call back yet. Their website doesn't appear to even have them and Google didn't turn up much else. Attached is an image of what it looks like. Along the bottom it says "DIAL NO 5-02512". Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
KSMooniac
Unfortunately you can only purchase them from Mooney through a Mooney Service Center, so call your favorite one. I bought some last year or the year before and Don Maxwell had them in stock. ~$45 each I believe. The dial is actuated via magnets, but you'll need to silicone them in place. (I actually called the manufacturer and they had them in stock, but then their rep read the fine print and by contract they can only sell to Mooney.) I'll call the MSC and get one ordered. Thanks!
carusoam
They fall out often enough or they get beat by the sun, the MSCs usually have some in stock... The process is usually two parts, silicone and tape. Silicone for long term hold. Tape to hold it place until the silicone takes hold... LevelWing
Sounds easy enough to install. I find these to be more accurate than the gauges in plane. Not to mention it looks weird only having one.

Piloto
Make sure you have the dial properly line up before attaching it. Check with the other side. José
carusoam
What is the difference between the J and K regarding the wing mounted level sensors? Best regards, -a-
KSMooniac
What is the difference between the J and K regarding the wing mounted level sensors? Best regards, -a- Different tank capacity between the two models. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
carusoam
Thanks Scott. I should be looking for a spare set of R specific ones in that case...? Mine are either only reading the first 35 gallons or mis-reading the total of approximately 50 gallons per side. Now, I have to go look... KSMooniac
Good question... you should probably look in the parts manual and see if the number is different than the J or K... I suspect it is. It wouldn't surprise me if these gauges have a max indication that is less than the total capacity in the tank since they're down near the root. The panel instruments rely on 2 sending units...one of which is outboard a bit to account for the dihedral effect.
